Are people really that mad or annoyed that Clinton didn't play? We only signed him on Monday and he was only cleared to play on Friday. Him not making the bench is not really an issue. Would I have liked to see him on the bench? Yeah sure, but Poch also have every reason to not instantly put a new player on the bench when they haven't trained much with our team. If he doesn't make it to the bench next week then maybe you might have a slight point but even then we can only pick 18 players, and as much as Clinton is new and I wanna see him and I expect his pace will be very helpful, doesn't mean he'd be one of the 18 players Poch thinks can win our next game.

As Pedro has been mentioned, as he is an elite player it makes sense that Chelsea put him into their team straight away. But that's because he's an elite player and they'd been poor this season by their standards (we've flattered to decide, I wouldn't say we've been poor yet).

There is that point that we instead put four CMs on the bench. What could we have done with Kane went off injured? And then Chadli? In my opinion a bench should cover for every position available so we can do something in every injury/form crisis.I love that Onomah gets involved but honestly there was no scenario possible that got him game time. Putting Clinton on the bench would gave him a good feeling that he is needed straight away. I don't like these bed in over three months stories only to destroy a bit of confidence.
It is not a disaster, but Poch-like unsurprising.

http://www.skysports.com/football/n...ing-on-manchester-city-pace-says-gary-neville

Just been looking at this article and I'm hoping that N'Jie and possibly Berahino will have the same effect on Eriksen and Kane who aren't exactly slow either. That's if we can find a way to play them all together, with any luck we'll get another quick forward as backup. I can't wait to see what N'Jie can do!
It's not just pace with City, it's width too. Their full backs provide quality delivery.

City are now strong in every department and they can hurt you in many different ways. It's what we need to be looking at.

They're intricate in the middle of the pitch, but they can also go direct with the pace of Sterling and use the flanks now. If you try to sit back and play narrow then their full backs bomb on and create havoc. If opponents push up and press then they can hurt you with pace.

As much as Walker and Davies try it's really time to give the likes of Trippier and Rose starts. Good full backs are so important as teams become scared of dropping off and sitting narrow. This is what City do fantastically. If you play narrow they will kill you out wide and if you try to counter that then they will stroke it around the middle before next thing you know Aguero smashes it into the top corner.

If we play those two and we add Njie and Berahino to the equation then suddenly there is another couple of dimensions to our attack. We can play intricate possession football, exploit space out wide by getting quality crosses into the box or look for more direct balls into willing forward runners. At the moment we've only got the first of these but hopefully this season we will have all 3 in our locker which will make us much more difficult to contain and much less predictable, particularly at home against the teams that sit back.

Our bench consisted of 2 full backs, 3 CM's and 1 Central attacking mid and a GK. Not 1 attacking player to add pace, width, goal threat or sub striker.

Having him as an option on the bench was a no brainer for me, it's not like he is starting. Also, Poch shouldn't have let Oduwa go out on loan until we had not only bought a player to add, pace, width and dribbling ability but until they were ready to at least be on the bench.

I guess MP needed to prepare for the game with the worst case scenario of him not getting a permit in mind. Friday was a bit too late to change plans for him. Don't think it's as simple as 'whacking him on the bench'.

Don't get me wrong, I'd have really wanted to see him on the bench and would have been happy to see him there, but not having him on there for this one game isn't much of an issue for me. Poch seems to think long term (it doesn't always work out sure but he seems to view things like that). As he thinks long term, he plays is safe this one game and doesn't put someone who isn't match fit on the bench for this one game. That's all.

The Oduwa point I have to give you, he'd have been a great option to have especially with Eriksen injured this week. Nevertheless as the season goes on Oduwa getting to (hopefully) play regularly there than not playing much here might be a smart choice.

I read an article suggesting he has only played half a season in the top French league and might not be ready to go straight into the team. If he came off the bench and looked horribly off the pace then people might suspect we've bought a turkey.

Giving him a little time before even getting on the bench is really not anything to get upset or angry about. It's perfectly understandable.

City play differently on either flank. If Navas plays, the fbs sits back more. If only our fbs played like kolorov and zabaleta!

http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/...-from-southampton-behind-big-tottenham-transf

Drissa Diallo has been cited by French newspaper L'Equipe as the man behind Tottenham Hotspur signing Clinton Njie from Lyon. Tottenham made a big financial commitment to getting Njie during the current transfer window and it was all based upon Diallo's word.

L'Equipe have explained that Diallo is Tottenham's representative and scout in France. It's his job to compile targets and also compile reports upon those targets, recommending players to Tottenham to sign.

If things had turned out differently then Njie may have signed for Southampton this summer rather than Tottenham. L'Equipe say that Diallo used to do the same job for Southampton but was parched from that job by Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine manager left Southampton for Spurs and it wasn't only his pot plant he took with him.

Diallo is just one of a number of prominent representatives from Premier League clubs in France at the moment, say L'Equipe. The French newspaper say Loic Perard was the man to replace Diallo at Southampton, and he's based in Paris currently building his own targets up.

Played about 50 minutes in each of 2 games for the Cameroon in the international break.

Would have thought he would be leading the line v Qarabag, so I guess we'll see then

really impressed with him last night, didn't stop running and showed some quality at times

I'm very sure that he has a big future with the club and can become a top player with us if given the chance

(side note: also during the warm up he was showing some of the most insane technique with his shots I've ever seen)
