Club secretary is just an admin guy though, pen pusher with a fancy title, filling in forms to satisfy HMRC, doing the annual return and other companies house forms, can't imagine he will be too hard to replace

Don't you believe it. My old man used to swear by the guy he had at Brighton. The Secretary is literally involved with every member of staff at the club every single day. He knows the comings and goings better even than Levy, who he'll be briefing on a real-time basis. Yes, the administration is crucial but his ability to problem-solve and proactively deal with issues from the constant supply of paperclips in the offices of the mighty to complex labour law knowledge that helps us push through deals for players like Luka Modric, Heurelho Gomes and Dimitar Berbatov.

I can imagine the impact he has had at the Lane. And for ten years! This is a big loss, I fear. Especially twinned with Barber.

Still, at least Harry has some new mates at HMRC to be able to chip in with some advice on that...

Can't see Levy selling or not having someone else in mind to replace Alexander

Maybe they're going to play him at the back judging by the display they put in at Fulham yesterday.

Anyway, agent Alexander - you know what you have to do!

I'm concerned about this for two ways:

1- If he knows something about contacts for our transfer targets ( specially those at Brazilian Inter ) or helping Man Utd interest for one of our players could be needed at Man Utd the likes of Modric, Bale, Lennon, Bostok, Rose, Mason etc .. But we should think that Levy could already sort these things

He'll probably go with a clause that he can not divulge or interfere with any of our business in any way, you find this standard practice in many industries and I'm not too sure but I think that there is something in business law anyway that will protect us from the knowledge he has of our club.

I'm hoping he goes with a deep love for Spurs and the intent to destroy United financially :). Well, I can hope can't I....................

As far as I know John Alexander is one of the best in the business at his job, so it is a big miss. Paul Barber is also going so the excellent team up top from recent years is disbanding...seems ominous

just had a scary thought, but is'nt Kenyon leaving or has left Chelsea

There's a big difference between a Company Secretary and a CoE (like Kenyon is).

A Company Secretary is the top admin role - running operations etc. A CoE gives a strategic lead and basically runs the club (while the Chairman runs the company) - basically a suped-up DoF.

Kenyon's role is the same as say David Dein, Rick Parry, David Gill etc.

What i think this indicates is that the rumors that ManU are in serious financial difficulty are infact true. Because we are financially the most stable club in the country ManU may have lured John to help them sort out their mess. In legal business terms a company's secretary is in charge of the accounting and finance administration of the company.

wait for the twist in the tale  get out the leather polish

So, the rumours are true?

And for anyone who hasn't heard, I can exclusively reveal that THFC are on the verge of agreeing a deal to make Manchester United our feeder club (like Beveren and Arsenal). For years, we've been sending them our best players to 'polish' while we prepare for the Champions League. Now our stadium is on the way and 4th virtually guaranteed, we'll complete the deal, which will see us re-form the reserve side (some stadium they've got, too. Even if it is a wee drive up the M6).

In business terms there's not a company secretary out there that has the first clue about accounting and finance. That's why there are Chief Financial Officer's and Finance Directors.

Alexander did a good job and will be missed, but decent company secretary's are ten a penny so no doubt we'll get someone decent in.
