Chelsea must have the worst record at the moment. £87m for 29 League goals from Torres and Schevchenko over six seasons. Saying that Torres did score some very important goals for them in Europe.

Interesting.

What was your source? I'm almost certain that Shearer was £15m, not £18m. I'm disappointed that the signing of Salah has bumped Andy Carroll off Liverpool's list (although wasn't he £35m as well?).

Yeah some of the fee's seem a bit dodgy to me as well. Like you say Shearer was around £15m. I got them from Transfermarkt.com as they listed each teams highest transfers rather than just the record deal, but I'll probably look some up individually if I get time. But as a general indication of how successful big money deals are it's quite eye opening to see how many of the big deals end up failing.

A fairly big chunk of those signings have been varying degrees of failures.

Transferleague.co.uk tends to be pretty accurate.

Also just to keep this up to date, both Huddersfield and Arsenal have broken their transfer records today.

I think the reason why they are wrong is because the fee listed has been the original fee in £ converted to € at the time of the transfer then converted back to £ using todays rate

£12.75m on nothing? Are Watford just throwing away money?!

I definitely typed Success in when I did the list. I guess the autocorrect software thought that Watford Success must be an error and took it out.

That makes sense (y)
