Swansea have released a statement apologising on behalf of Clucas because of his celebration....

This is the symbol of the Yorkshireman’s videos, internet famous for ‘plenty in the tank sir, be seeing you, good shot sir and bit of blinding’.

A statement released by a Swansea spokesman said: "As a club we were unaware of any links to the internet group in question and disappointed to learn of the association as it does not reflect the values of Swansea City nor our strong commitment to equality.

"We wholeheartedly condemn the degradation of women and believe everyone's rights, dignity and individual worth is to be respected.

"Having spoken to Sam, he was not fully aware of the pornographic sections of this internet group and at no time intended to cause offence which he apologises for.

"The club will speak to Sam again internally to establish the full facts, while also taking the opportunity to remind everyone of their responsibilities."

——————

I mean, most of the women in the videos are sending the clips in themselves! There may be a debate to be had on violent porn etc but come on, coooommmeee ooooonnn, it’s PC gone maaaaaaaaad. Do you think it needed an apology?

Yes. He meant no harm but he is a professional footballer and role model. He acted as an employee of a company infront of thousands of people. Especially now with weinstein and womens treatment under focus. It was a silly thing to do as you know a lot of people would be angered by it.

As my wife was more than happy to point out - men appear in porn just as much as women.
In her words - who gives a flying fuck about a goal celebration and what it "might" reference.
It's just as likely it was a standard "holy shit, I'm wide eyed that I have just scored against Arsenal, and we might avoid relegation" celebration.
Way way way too much scrutinisation going on these days.

Maybe, just to avoid offending one single person, we need to follow the NFL's lead and ban any form of celebration... FFS... People need to man the fuck up!!
Oops, that's another politically incorrect statement.

But this is the point. As I said, more than half the clips in these videos are sent in by women, usually mature women, themselves! Who are we to say don’t do that!? That’s a million times worse than letting women do what they choose.

I’ve listened to quite a few ex pros on the radio who disagree that footballers are role models but again, that’s probably another debate altogether. Ideally they should be but it rarely works out that way.

I honestly believe that he genuinely thought it’d be a laugh amongst mates and didn’t really consider he’d be offending anyone. It’s just a sort of secret code amongst lads. A celebration like this isn’t harmful, if he’d taken his shorts and pants down and started cockslapping a team mate on his forehead then maybe, maybe that’s a bit much...

It's not harmful and doesn't degrade women but It's still unprofessional. Clubs these days all have sponsors looking on etc. It doesn't look good on the club to have behaviour like that. No harm done but should apologise.

I'm not offended or upset by it but there will be some that are. Parents take their kids to the games and kids will copy the footballers.
He has embarrassed the club and they have apologised. That should be the end of it.
