Enjoyed reading the article and indeed the replies, some very good points made.

For my tuppence worth, I would definitely prefer 5th to 6th. We should always aspire to finish as high as we can no matter what, why else compete ?

Also I grew up in Ireland with the place awash with Liverpool fans, during a time when they won everything so if we have a chance to finish above them for a second season in a row then lets bloody grab it.

On the Europa league thing, why not ?. Not sure if we have to pre qualify but if we do its the same as champs league, the groups have 4 teams in each so thats 6 games, same as champs lge, there is an extra round in the knockout stages but apart from that there isn't much difference in terms of games played.

It is a bit of a pain playing Thursday and Sunday but we can give some game time to our squad players and maybe blood some youngsters. The quality of opposition isn't as good so there isn't as much distraction, it can be taken as seriously as we want, would love to win it by the way.

One last point to Frosteye... love the optimism and while I think its a bit too much for us you are actually quite right. This weekend will tell a lot, if we win and City don't take max points from Everton, never easy, and we follow it up with a win at Eastlands then there may only be a point or two between us with two games to go. A lot of ifs and buts I know, then again its not that far fetched.

Lets hope the lads give it everything and we'll see where we end up.

I heard SAF saying last year that the basic Man Utd battle plan is to take as many
points as possible from home games ("by hook or by crook") and then take as many as possible from the away teams.

Spurs don't. End of. Same in 1985. Seen it all before
.

So SAF's game plan is to take as many points as possible from every game? That is groundbreaking.... Harry out...

As of this moment:

Man U. Home games 49 pts Away 24 pts

Spurs Home games 33 pts Away 23 pts

So Man Utd have dropped 2 points at home from 17 games and Spurs have dropped 21 points at home from 18.

The away stats are broadly similar. All the good results away from home such as the 2-3 at The Emirates have been negated by the inability to beat teams at "Fortress WHL" and without being too disrespectful most of the teams we lost points against were in the lower reaches of the Premier.
