Immense pressure on him now, he's got to put in some incredibly consistent performances to justify that fee.

Here's the thing though MP. I think he's made a great choice in choosing PSG and France. In the French league he will be the star attraction and playing for PSG against the majority of ligue 1 teams he will shine, just as Ibra, who is nowhere near as dynamic, did for PSG. That team dominates most games it plays in, he'll be getting plenty of ball and will be playing in a very good team (A team I think is on it's way to being better than Barca in a footballing sense right now) that slabs it's opponents most weeks.

I think this is a great move for him, for PSG and for the French league. All will benefit, as the league will hopefully be able to negotiate better TV rights etc and every club will have a few more bums on seats in their grounds when PSG come to town (already most teams best attendance along with Marseille most seasons - unless they have a big local derby which isn't many)

PSG President just said he expects Naymar to be worth £400M in 2 years. What ever way this is cut Ligue One is a massive step down from La Liga.
Not as big a step down as you think. Not in terms of actual technical quality. PSG tonking Barca in the CL at home, Monaco in the CL, Lyon making the semis of the Europa etc. Economically for years most of the league in Spain has been as deprived as most of the French league. And technically France produces great footballer and exports more than any other (maybe bar Brazil - it fluctuates).

No-one will give a flying fuck about what he does in the French league, it's talismanic Champions League victory (victories) or bust.

I don't agree completely. In the same way that it didn't do Ibrahimivic any harm to be seen scoring hatricks and carrying a league on his back every week and winning league titles it won't do Neymar any harm either. He'll be the face of a whole league, whereas at Barca or Real he'd only ever be an appendage to Messi, Ronaldo etc.

In comercial terms though Ligue 1 is still miles behind. PSG is still the only "super club" in France, Monaco has been dismantled in one summer, Lyon has lost its prize asset.

But as you say, Zlatan has blazed that trail already domestically. Neymar, especially with the pricetag, has got to set new heights - that's gotta be success in the CL.

The whole thing is ridiculous really, but I must admit I'm finding it quite amusing to see Barca throwing their toys out of the pram because PSG have managed to do to them what they've done to countless other clubs for years. Shame it wasn't RM on the receiving end though.

When asked about the money, why doesn't he just say "Yeah, that's a big part of it; I'm getting paid a huge pile of cash to come here. Wouldn't you do the same?"

If a company down the road wanted to double my salary overnight, I'd be out the door pretty damn quickly!
Because the fans don't want to hear him say that, and neither do his new club. It's also possible that someone like Man City could have offered to pay him more.

I thought Di Maria was being linked with other clubs, weirdly us too
He had 2 very good seasons for PSG. So unless they're looking to free up wages or get some of the Neymar salary back I'd be surprised if they were looking to get rid.

Seems petulant to me, if he had a buy out clause, then it's not breach of contract surely?

It's supposedly an attempt to claw back the bonus he got last season... Seems very petulant.
That's the problem with release clauses in the current day and age of stupid money.
200 million, when he signed the contract, seemed too much for any club to be capable of offering. Problem is, that deal was signed a few years back.
