Surely if the bonus related to him signing that contract and then he was purchased via meeting the release clause then there is no breach?

Seems like childish reaction to not getting there own way for once.

Cantona got what 9 month ban and community service.

Cantona full on drop-kicked someone. Neymar basically just gives someone a shove in a "Get out of my face" kind of way. Nowhere near as bad as the Cantona one IMO.

Hadn't seen it. It was nothing really.

I still crack up at that Cantona kick. I was playing Champ Man with my Man U supporting mate, listening to it on 5 Live. He was shaking his head, I was creasing up.

It's definitely one of those "Hang on a minute, did that really just happen?" moments. I think Zidane has him beaten on that front though for his headbut if only because of the context of it - greatest player of his generation, last game before retirement, world cup final, unbelievable.

I had to look it up:

TBF that's barely a cuff. Little spod in the crowd was probably being a ****.

Not quite in the same league as a flying karate kick to the ribs:

The fan had been trying to wind up all the players on the way up. I'm sure I heard that he was friends with one of the players on the other team.

Neymars also got a three match ban in the champions league for insulting a ref.

Via BBC gossip.

Brazil striker Neymar has changed his mind over his future at Paris St-Germain and now wants to leave. (Le10Sport)

Apparently he'd insulted Verratti pretty nastily, Neymar was walking right behind Verratti and wanted to shut the **** up.

I think Neymar represents everything wrong with modern football but he shouldn't be heavily punished for that.

Every empire ends

You're witnessing the birth-pangs of the end for La Liga and their 2 behemoths

I agree with this. In 10 seasons the 2 biggest leagues that will remain imo is the PL and the Bundesliga. These are the only 2 leagues that have any level of depth.

It is one thing to offer players exorbitant salaries but they also want to win prestigious trophies.

Why would a billionaire owner want to plough his money into a minor league that players do not want to play in.

They would be far better off investing in a strong league that can attract players.

I know that the Budesliga has financial constraints that at the moment stops this kind of investment but I feel that this will change if they want to remain competitive.

There is no depth on Spain, France, Italy etc and I can see these leagues declining to nothing.

Probably why UEFA is so hell bent on setting up a super league.

But that's exactly what has happened at PSG and the reason this thread exists.
People in France, Italy, etc. Aren't going to stop going to games any time soon.

France having the 5th biggest league in Europe doesn't make it one of the "Big 5"; it just makes it the biggest league outside the Big 4.

That is an interesting time-frame as it equates to approx. another 3 TV deal-cycles.

This season saw the value of the Premier League's domestic TV rights plateau and effectively reach market saturation. But there was still huge growth in the overseas TV rights. This is where the continued increased revenues are coming from for the PL and that could well be an even more enormous amount in 10 seasons time.

If we look at the Deliotte football money list, the PL's 'Big-6' have to make up between £100m to £300m in revenue (depending on club) if they are to catch up with first-placed Real Madrid. I believe this will be possible over the next 10 years, just through overseas TV rights alone.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deloitte_Football_Money_League#2019

But what is most intriguing, is the fact that clubs like Everton, Newcastle and West Ham, etc, could also be in the top-10 richest clubs by then.

Finally, the PL should really be trying to cut into the South American market more than they do, to undermine La Liga's fan/powerbase there.

China beckons for Neymar. Or of course Man United who are desperate.
