I keep missing the memo tbh. He's a scrappy enough worker but hardly a Carrick type who was an interception machine with good passing/distribution or a Makelele who was an absolute machine hunting the ball down relentlessly and disciplined beyond belief.

The biggest string to his bow is his HG status it seems.

If Skipp had been playing regular PL football on loan for the last two seasons I do wonder if he wouldn't be too far from Gallagher's level. Maybe not but I don't think its entirely impossible.

We can only guess just how much he would have improved with regular playing time in the PL, but he'd almost certainly be better than he is now.
During his loan to Norwich, when he won the Championship title and was selected for the Championship 'PFA Team of the Year', he demonstrated that he was very much ready for the Premier League...but not that he was ready to start for us. He's since spent three seasons as a rotation player, during a key stage of a player's development (aged 20-23) and his lack of playing time has clearly hindered his progression. With hindsight, I think it's a shame that we didn't extend his loan with Norwich for another season, so he could be a regular starter for a PL team.

I don’t think he has the mobility or creativity of Gallagher. Not that I think Gallagher is especially creative but Skipp is even less so.

I could definitely see Skipp being an important player for a team like Palace though.

In any case even with his contract running down and with the mess they are in I still think Chelsea will just dick us around and string things out wasting our time we need to spend on other targets.

Not been paying attention if I'm honest, nice to hear Chelsea have equalised but is that right that Poch hasn't made any subs?
