Tottenham defender Vedran Corluka believes Harry Redknapp could be set to launch a bid for Croatia team-mate Darijo Srna.

According to press reports, Spurs could be set make major changes ahead of the new season with the likes of Roman Pavlyuchenko, Darren Bent, David Bentley, Didier Zokora, Tom Huddlestone, Gilberto, Gareth Bale among those linked with a move away.

And, with names such as Goran Pandev, Glen Johnson, Djibril Cisse and Martin Petrov said to be under consideration, Corluka feels it could be a busy summer.

“There is plenty written and spoken [about changes at the club],” he told Sportske Novosti.

“It is possible that five or six players will go, but I think that we need at least two or three new signings if we are to increase our ambitions.

“Against the big teams, we were at our best; against the sides lower down the table, where physical power is the key, we were weak.

“You have to have a stronger bench to compete in the league.”

Shakhtar Donetsk right back Srna, 27, is one of the players reported to be under consideration and Corluka has revealed a move is a definite possibility.

Srna has previously suggested he has no intention of leaving Shakhtar but, with Milan and Bayern Munich also reported to be interested, he may be tempted to leave the Uefa Cup winners.

“I know that Redknapp is keen on Srna and would not be surprised if Tottenham go for him,” he said.

“I would play in the middle of defence if that were the case.

“We’ll see what Darijo’s plans are, but it seems that there are plenty of offers, which is no surprise given his quality.”

Niko Kranjcar, meanwhile, has also been linked with a move after his successful spell under Redknapp at Portsmouth, but Corluka is not convinced he would leave Fratton Park.

He said: “There’s a lot of talk because everybody knows that Redknapp has always been a huge admirer of Niko’s football.

"Like Srna, though, he has always seemed pretty much committed to his club."

Kranjcar said this week that he had no plans to leave Portsmouth.

I don't get it if Harry is looking for a right back as this is our strongest area with 3 good players already and a decent young welshman coming through too.

It would only be an option if HR wants to experiment with 5-3-2 wingback system.

I want someone to confirm Corluka's source before I believe this.

Rob? Can you vouch for this guy?

Isn't Chimbonda being touted as a make-weight in a deal for either Warnock or RSC? If so it would make sense, especially if, as Corluka says, he is going to switch to a central position.

Just hoping this one comes off, i really want us to bring some more full backs into the squad.

With Gilberto on his way, Hutchings released and rumours that Chimbonda is going our stocks our reaching critical levels.

    isn't srnja a midfielder

i dont want Corluka in the center, he's too slow. He's a brilliant right back and should stay there. Lets just buy Lescott or Upson :-/

    Right winger

Yes that is right he is plays in midfield, right wing, he is great attacker even scores goals from the right, but cannot defend,so does that mean Lennon is on his way, hope not.

Srna, if he decided to leave, would likely have better options available to him than Spurs unfortunately.

I'd love Kranjcar though, can play on the left and in the middle and is very creative - a much more sound investment than Downing for example.

Johnson and Srna linked in the same Article. What could be better? And this only days after the link to Warnock. 11 full backs is surely within our grasp. But which will play in goal?
