I have thought this for a long time the guy is 6 ft 2 has pace power and technique to hold the ball up. He can shoot and head the ball really well. He has the ability to score 15 - 20 goals but does he have the belief and mentality.. Porch improved Rodriguez and Lambert so hoping he can really push Chadli to the next level.

He already is to a point. Not in the traditional sense but the way Poch's system works is total freedom for the front players.

Agree with @barry 's comment. The front four are all responsible for creating and scoring goals. Nonetheless, if he's most effective as one of the attacking mids why would you switch him to play upfront when you have Adebayor and Soldado already to contend with?

Who would you then put in the attacking 3 to replace him? Kane?

I reckon Chadli could be seen as our answer to Jay Rodriguez. The attacking mid who out of all the three is seen as a LWF/Striker especially given his aerial prowess and overall strength.

His goals on Sunday were excellently taken, the first in particular. Think we might see quite a few from him this season.

He is a forward already. But he's not a striker.
I used to watch him a lot before we signed him. He was always very good at arriving late in the box and remaining unmarked.

The problem we have had over the last 2 seasons is not that we haven't had a goalscorer, it's the supply to the goalscorer that has been lacking.

That is what I hope has changed

Not a dig at you, but a collective WTF?! Every time anyone that's not listed as a FWD or ST scores we get some thread saying, "Should X play up front?" NO! No they scored cos they were in their position playing well.

Not just forwards.
Half of all spurs fans kept saying king should play DCM.
One of the best centre backs in the country ffs!

I understand that he is capable of playing as a striker. As @michaelden says though, thats probably not the most efficient position for him!

If he gets a run of games at LWF - which I see no reason why he shouldn't, then we should be able to tell exactly how much pace/power he has against PL defenders. If he carries his form from Sunday in to our next few games I'd happily keep him on the left, interchanging with Ade. We may need Chadli to play a more advanced role in Jan when Ade goes to the ACN.

I think yesterday showed the value of having someone like Chadli in the squad. He'll get us goals and he offers us something a bit more substantive than the pure wing-play from Lennon/Townsend.

In the system Poch is likely to stick with, his style of play is simply much more effective than Lennon or Townsend and I think he'll be a big success this season.

I don't know whether we've seen enough to suggest he'd be a success upfront on his own, but I certainly wouldn't be disappointed to see him there on the team sheet for a few games to see how he does.

When Ade's off in Africa in january he could well get a chance there i'd imagine

I don't want to see him as a striker, he doesn't need to be if he's in an interchanging 3 behind the striker anyway because it allows him to take up central positions throughout the match. He'll still get in dangerous and advanced enough positions, as we saw on Sunday.

I really wanted to try Sigurdsson as a striker, but Chadli seems a bit different for me. I think Chadli is one of our most underrated players, he has pace, power, can pass, cross and seems calm in pressured moments on the pitch. Like his first goal against QPR and his pass to Rose for Ade's assist.

I guess it could be given a go in the Europa League, but I think he is at his best when he runs late into the box or comes central from the left or right. But another thing is that all our front 4 constantly interchange positions against QPR, if that's the new style then I doubt he will be restricted to playing 1 position, as Eriksen, Lamela himself and possibly at times even Adebayor were all swapping positions.

After Sunday I have been left in no doubt that the front 4 are so fluid that at any 1 time each 1 of them becomes a striker, creator, a presser or a defender.

I think he could do a job up top but I also think Ade is a better option than him. In fact, of all the four who played in the attacking roles on Sunday, I think all of them could play I'm the most advanced role (Eriksen as a false 9 or whatever the hipster term is these days). In 4-2-3-1, the days of out and out strikers are long gone and all four will be tasked with scoring 10-20 goals a a season! something I think all four (and Kane as well) would do if they play 38 games this season. Maybe that's me being optimistic but I fully expect most of our goals to come from one of those four assisting another one of them (6 of our 7 goals have been assisted from one of the attacking players and 5 of our 7 goals).

I realise I've gone a but off topic but, yes, I do agree with you but don't see him ever being defined as a "centre forward"
