Could Ramos do what Jol didn't dare?

Am I the only person who thinks it was stupid to drop Keane and Berbatov today? They scored all five goals against Boro home and away last season when we won both games. Woodgate was out and Boro were there for the taking with a bit of subtlety and thought.

Our midfield really doesn't support the strikers and Keane is not only top scorer but does a great job linking the play.

I can't help but think that if Martin Jol had done this he would have been completely slaughtered.

Here here!

I've alwasy sad the bent/defoe partnership + also having Lennon in the same team = a very stupid attacking line. postionally and creatively they are lacking. The defoe/Bent tactic is much better when the opposition are pressing very high but with boros equally poor confidence and injury list, it meant they were never gonna really have a go at us.
Ramos perhaps didn't know. Or maybe he did know and ran the risk anyway with the UEFA cup in mind. We ain't gonna do shit all in the league but the UEFA cup is still most certainly up for grabs. If we win in isreal and Berbs and or keane are the main reason then kudos to Ramos.

I doubt I've seen more of Sevilla than you, Yanno, if as much, and (for Gibbsy's information) I certainly don't claim to be any sort of expert either, but that seems to sum it up pretty well; he will develop a core of players that we'll see feature in the majority of games, but no-one's going to be nailed-on if they're not pulling their weight.

Which is why if Christian Poulsen (a key player for Ramos' Sevilla side) really does have a £7 million buy-out clause, I'd imagine Juande has already told Comolli to do the deal asap.

Plus, coaching the players on the training ground to play Ramos' favoured system will take time, so to be able to bring in an experienced player who knows exactly what the gaffer wants should speed the process up somewhat. And crucially, Poulsen plays in a position - CM - where we're desperately short of Ramos-type players.

I read the the Kanoute rumours in a similar light. If Berba's agent wants to get him out of Spurs, then I'd fully expect us to go after Fredi. If Berba stays, I would imagine Ramos would want to strengthen other areas of the side with the money available.

Our new chum 'Juande_Ramos' pointed out the opposite in the matchday thread, and called him 'Benitez Mk II'—except that he favours a much more attacking style. This has been echoed by others, and the Sevilla players who've talked about him. He never tells them who's playing until 90 minutes before the game. You only have to look at the team stats—only seven players have started in more than 50% of the games (eleven of ours have), and of those only Palop, Alves, Navas and Keita have been virtually omnipresent. According to Marca Kerzhakov is pissed off with things because he's lost his place in the Russian team and wants out, so one or two feelings are liable to be hurt.

I think that once everyone is available and he's got the feel of the squad we'll see him picking a maximum of half-a-dozen core players who'll feature in the majority of games and juggle the rest.

That's true. Juande Ramos had a few core players and the rest were rotated heavily. Obviously things like the importance of the player and his stamina, ahtletic demands of the position were taking into account when rotating. For instance, Alves played in 34 games, completing 33 of them, and Poulsen, Renato, Escude and Kanoute were used in many games. Juande wants a high tempo style and for that you need very fit players. So expect line-up changes galore.
