Both Barcelona and the player would prefer a permanent deal but it is unlikely any Premier League team will match the £80m price tag. Meanwhile, Spurs have bid £55.5m for Giovani Lo Celso and remain in talks with Bruno Fernandes.

Spurs agreed a £64.4m fee with Juventus for the Argentine forward Dybala on Tuesday but they have yet to reach an agreement for Dybala's image rights from company Image Star.

Fine with me. I would far prefer GLC or Dybala, in that order. Yes, that order.

As far as I’ve been able to understand from ITK and different sources, is that we are not even close to have £80M for one player. Even if it’s Coutinho.

The only way it would’ve worked, was as a loan with option to buy. Many will say he was sold to Barca at a highly inflated price. And his current worth is not even close to that - probably around the 80 quoted. Problem is: only PSG, Juve and the PL clubs have that kind of money outside La Liga. The only club that has shown any interest is us. That the player and his agents doesn’t get this is slightly odd.

But maybe he wants to stay and fight for a spot?
