I don't know whether that comment was meant to be made in jest or not Kendall, but it's been flagged in the Mod forum and I personally don't find it funny at all.

We're grateful for all donations received on SC and I can assure you that 100% of the money received goes towards paying for the server and whatever stuff needs doing for the site. That and a load of Rob's monthly income as donations don't cover all of the costs.

in response to a question on another general-footy-related board, i posted that COYS was a bit of a rumour mill, as there was soooo much unchallenged 'ITK'. i didn't suggest, or imply, that it was of no value, or make any kind of blanket criticism of the site, or of it's vaunted 'ITK'. it was a fairly innocuous comment. no further comment was made concerning COYS.

about A YEAR LATER(!), i get a private message from the mods, linking to that year-old post, and saying something along the lines of "was this you? what have you got to say for yourself?" i answered something along the lines of "yeah, it was me; but it was just kind of my first impression of COYS, and since then i've spent a bit more time there (coys), and contributed a bit more, so, sure, i'll gladly concede that it's more than a rumour mill. i've nothing bad to say about COYS, and hadn't said anything since, at any rate."

not good enough, apparently. i then find myself banned from the boards, and i get an email saying something along the lines of "look, we see this kind of thing as being all chummy to our faces, but slating us behind our backs. we can't have members saying bad things about our site. what say you?"

well, what i then said is hardly pertinent, as it was in no way pursuant or conducive to getting me reinstated. but, seriously, who in their right mind would go around searching year-old posts on another site for some kind of offense? nevermind that it could only be considered offensive by the thinnest-skinned ... never mind that nothing else even remotely negative had been said/implied in the ensuing year ... "we'll track you down and you'll get what's comin' to ya!"

honestly. what the hell? they don't want people saying bad things about COYS, so they go waaaaay out of their way to insure that anything i ever say in the future about COYS will be negative? makes sense. and it's not like i was even saying anything negative about them, anyway. it'd been over a year!

you have to laugh. that place is run by some staggeringly insecure folks, i tell ya.

I had no intention of banning him... and I wasn't getting strict with my modding, I was merely pointing out that my fiance isn't a thief, in response to a comment that could be misconstrued by some. It may well have been made as a tongue in cheek remark but some people saw fit to report the post and I'm dealing with it. Considering Kendall's previous posts about site donations, I think most of the mods would also fail to see it as a joking comment.

I don't use COYS but I'm assuming Prof is someone from there? He prefers to be called Dr Rob anyway :wink:

About two years ago 2 COYS mods hacked into the fledgling SpursOrNothing forum and sabotaged it. The whole board had to be rebuilt.

This was done because a few of their posters had migrated there and they didn't like the challenge to the 'establishment'.
