Good move for him if he gets playing time but I would have preferred to see him get a loan in England, even the championship to toughen him up. Would have been easier for the club to monitor his progress too. Hope this doesn't turn out like another Mason/Lorient situation.

Strange that it's not on our OS yet, they're so slow with things like this

Think I might agree, unless our current attacking midfield options suggest he's unlikely to play in Spurs first team, and he is being prepared for a move back to La Ligua via a loanm to an Iberian peninsula team ?

Good find though - I hadn't spotted it !

Could be that yes, we did a similar thing with Giovani and looks like with Falque as well.

Could be wrong but you'd think if ey had plans for him in the first team then they'd have insisted on a UK based loan. Unless avb has some kind of links to this club and wanted them to go there.

Problem is I think Ceballos has looked really good for our U21 and I'd be disappointed to let go of him he looks a talent.

With the 4-3-2-1 system AVB wants the team to play, it makes perfect sense to loan him to a club in Portugal where he will get the chance to play. There isn't a championship team that will play a similar style to how Tottenham plays.

Anyone know how Ceballos is getting on ? Liked the look of this kid.

I can't say I've watched any of Arouca's games but I have them as a favoured team on the fotmob app so I see their lineups etc and he hasn't made too much of an impression I don't think, when he first got there he was starting quite a few games but then dropped down to the bench and has been in an out since as they battle against relegation. He got sent off in a cup game a couple weeks ago against Braga and hasn't played since.

Not looking like the best of loans, I thought at the time he would have been better staying in England since his biggest challenge will be adjusting to the physical game here.

Cheers. You kind of wonder at the logic of packing him off somewhere that must be vey hard to follow his progress.

This is a total guess but I think we all thought it was AVB who told him to go there or least influenced there

Yeah I don't really get loaning players like Ceballos, Falque etc abroad. I don't see how we can keep tabs on them easily and surely you would want them to get used to our domestic football. I'd rather a 3-6 month loan in say the Championship getting them games and the other half of the year get them back to the club in and around the first team.

The players must feel in limbo too, another new club, detached from the Spurs set-up and kind of just left to get on with it.

This is something I really hope we look at as recently our loans have been all over the place and totally random. Sending Mason to Lorient where he hardly played, Ceballos and Falque as you mentioned. I actually think it's good for the English players to go abroad for a loan but if they're not likely to play or make an impression then there's no point.

Ceballos was always playing well for Sherwood's youth teams so it will be interesting to know if they've been in contact or what the plans are for him. He'd be better off going to Swindon if Pritchard is moving up to the Championship.

I've always wondered if we acquired both Ceballos and Falque both to see if we could develop them as Spurs players, or if they fell short to sell them back to a Spanish league club, and IMO it looks like the second option. We paid diddly squat for either so both options could be a win for us.

Could be wrong of course.

Agree. I don't have a problem with our players going abroad, in fact I think in some ways it might suit some of them better. The French league would be ideal for some. You are much more likely to be paying a more conducive brand (passing, technique based) of football in some other countries than you are in the Championship or League 1.
