Nice to see someone raving about he. Gets far too much stick and I don’t see him do much wrong.

Can be a good player and I thought he was awesome 2 seasons back (was my favourite player).
His flaws since then are there for anyone with eyes, lets start with his casualness which allows him to be easily dispossessed at times. Lets also remember the recent assist for the Liverpool goal. That was a massive '.....much wrong'!

He was awesome yesterday BTW but lets not pretend its always that way.

A massive ‘much wrong’? One goal? Not having that. Being accused of not having eyes by someone who doesn’t see Dier win possession so often? No one says he is perfect but he is playing to a very high standard in a team playing at a very high standard. There’s very little flashy about his performances but he still plays some great football at times. But if you insist on concentrating on his weaknesses, of which I insist are few and far between, then yes, he’s not playing as well as he has done, again, very high standards. But he’s always available, is versatile and his recent comments about the England captaincy shows he’s a leader who won’t hide.

Not going to get into an argument over your opinion, mine is different and we can still live so. I said those things I mentioned were a '...start'. There have been more mistakes anyone with eyes (my opinion again) can see and remember.

Right, I'll let the rest of the site know that we better not get into opinions and we'll all end up in the picture thread looking at pictures of cats. Which hopefully we won't have an opinion about.

Nothing wrong with having an opinion but these forums tend to blow them out of all proportions. You're only as strong as your weakest link but sometimes, despite it being a weak link, that only relative to some very strong links, meaning there's actually not that much wrong with it but someone needs the title. Dier is a very good player, but not being as good as some of the rest of our players leaves a negative view of him. It's unwarranted.

In my opinion.

Which is right.

So there.

Something else in his defence - switching positions can't be easy. He's been a midfielder for the past 3 seasons and every now and again he's asked to play centre half, sometimes in a 3 and sometimes in a 4.

Played well yesterday (as did Sanchez) but he will have tougher opponents than Benteke who really doesn't do anywhere near enough to make things difficult for defenders.
