I wonder if it's a reaction to Watford resting 11 players, bastards still won mind you.

It seems that I am the only one who has confidence in the 11 picked to start for us. Its not all doom and gloom as these players will deliver. Have faith!

I'm looking forward to seeing this back 3 for the first time, especially as it looks like this might be our defence in the not too distant future.

Not overly bothered with the line up. Eriksen has been unwell by all accounts and Lamela has hardly put in recent “pick me” performances.

GKN deserves a shot after his cameo last weekend and Moura needs the minutes.

Love Foyth coming back in and KWP is a better attacking wing back than Davies (with Rose rested).

I think we’ll win. Palace look awful at the back.

OK Watford won, but why the fuck would they rest players in a cup competition being in such a healthy position in the league.

I can understand a Club who is battling survival, or even fighting for the league/and multiple fronts but in Watford's position...that I'll never understand.

No Eriksen, Alderweireld, Rose is the correct call. There are bigger games they are needed for as the season pans out. Eriksen in particular has played so many games and for me has looked flat recently and desperately in need of some rest.

Lamela as we have been told needs wrapping in cotton wool currently, and has already started two games in the last week. Very little surprise he is on the bench.

That isn't far off the team I predicted, my only quibble would be three at the back + Dier (and Skipp) just seems overkill to me and I could well foresee a big disconnect again from back to front. As I suggested in the team thread, I'd personally have gone with 4-4-2 and an extra striker in Sterling.

That team can win though, and it's an opportunity for some players to step up. The challenge is there for them.

I know what you mean - they are a prime sort of club for taking the competition seriously.

Shockingly awful line-up.

I expect we’ll get a pasting. Palace have got better players than us all over the pitch today.

Anyone still think we have a deep enough squad?

For what's available, what more did you expect? I agree that we do need more quality in the squad though.

Obviously the club see it as vital but I’m fatigued by it already and it’s only been a few years of doing it. This whole have to get top 4 so we get knocked out in CL and then strive to get top 4 so get knocked out of CL doesn’t excite me at all. The myth of the past that you need it to attract signings has died too. Keeping players too means nothing as CL or not you lose players if Barca or Madrid come in for them. Now I’ve seen Madrid, Messi and Barca against us I don’t see the hype personally unless we’re actually going into it trying to win it.

Shhh but I agree with you. It’s why I want to win the FA Cup.

I know we all love the FA cup but surely top 4 finish and CL football next season is a must.COYS

Great for the balance sheet but we are thfc? No Fecking echos of glory on A spreadsheet. . The f. A cup is totally ingrained in The clubs history...

Same here. Been saying for years - awarded it a champions league place and the magic will return!
That may be, but that decision would be in the hands of UEFA. They don't care if there's magic in the FA Cup or not or how seriously teams take it.

Poch just said on BT that Eriksen is being rested and is not injured. At least that's a bit of good news.
On the subject of rested players, he also added: '' And also Toby of course''. Which is also a relief

It would be great to win the FA Cup, but you have to face up to reality and the situation we are in. Injuries, some players desperately need a rest (Eriksen) etc.

We're relying on the full depth of our squad to negotiate our way through the early round or two. If we can do that then things might look different later down the line. I don't see the point in moaning about it though, we're in the situation we are in. Hopefully some of them step up today and take their chance and get a result.
