I know we lost and everything, but were we actually outplayed with 71% of the ball, losing 2-0, one of which was a stupid penalty, skying a tap in from 7 yards (GKN) and missing a penalty (KT)?

I hate match threads tbh.

We didn't create any clear cut chances though other than from 2 set pieces, we were wasteful with posession. it was like watching Arsenal on the edge of the box.

Trippier, Llorente and N’Koudou must leave. Anything else is just negligent at this point. Even if it’s for free. There’s no point of having them around. Trippier we could maybe even get a few quid for.

How can anyone honestly argue the point to keep them here?

Poch and/or Levy rather we get top 4 than win a cup. This won't change I am afraid.

The money you make from the champions league means we can't afford to miss out, plus with a new stadium coming Levy doesn't want to have no champions league football in that new stadium.

With the fixtures coming up, Poch had to play this team otherwise our top 4 place could be in jeopardy esp with Man Utd resurgence.
Our transfer targets are going to be Everton level if we don't get top four.

It was a weird game tbh. Palace had a good enough team to match us up and not concede possession and territory like they did - they clearly expected us to be better. On the other hand their game plan worked perfectly, we threatened nothing and they looked dangerous on the break.

Basically the stats make us look much better than we were today.

Those are expensive players but its the only way we are going to advance this "project" at the current moment.
That's not true though. We absolutely can improve our first 11 without spending a fortune. Torreira for Arsenal was not a relatively expensive signing and he would have definitely improved us.

The reality of modern football is that Champions League is where the money is! Top 4 is and must be the continued priority for the club for now and the foreseeable future.

However in a transfer window in which we have been decimated by injuries we have sold a player! Dembele was past his best but surely worth keeping, given the current situation.

I think we are always on the verge of doing something, but a risk needs to be taken if we are to realise the potential of this squad and manager.

Lamela created most chances, 4 and had third highest pass completion of 89%. Clearly wasn't our worst player.

Definitely not our worst, looked bring but frustratingly held onto the ball too long a few times. I think he's the type of player who will struggle when there's not much ahead of him though. He likes to thread balls through and not just always play the simple pass to his credit so it probably doesn't help him that there's no Son or Kane ahead.

It's just unfortunate that he hasn't quite got the temperament to take the initiative more in front of goal especially as he looked to be gaining that prior to his injury.

I'm usually optimistic but mostly I'm realistic, and honestly I'm dreading Dortmund. We had all of the summer and most of January to strengthen the team and squad, we have no one to blame but ourselves. We've rested on our laurels for far too long and stalled, stagnated even, as a result. Such a waste.

That’s great for the fat cats at the top not so great for the future when local kids start supporting Chelsea because spurs haven’t won shit for donkey years.
It’s not one or the other anyway good sides do both.

I agree with you it's not one or the other but we have to go back to the summer as to why we have failed to be able to achieve both.

Poch knows the score. He is playing a role he has been asked to play until we get into the new stadium.

We've got no money to spend just like arsenal had none and still really don't

I believe it's The club deliberately puting out "leaks" that we've got X amount but will only spend it on the right players

We'll sign players in the summer with the 80 million we have from eriksen and Toby

Skipp is 18. Eighteen. Of all the people you can very reasonably blame for today, he ain't the one I'd pick out.
It's disgraceful the way he's getting thrown under the bus. We all know what the problem is and it ain't the players (especially an 18 yo kid) or Poch.

The problem is that Watford is NOT the team i'd have picked to play next. They're a little like wolves for my liking, snidy enough to spring a surprise win. If we can scrape out of that with a draw i'd be happy. Heres hoping son brings a paddle to get us out the proverbial creek.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting this ( I’m certainly not) but he has made a massive mistake prioritising Watford at home in the league vs palace away in the cup.
Football is about glory winning thing being adventurous not finishing 4 in the league

Think about it though. The predicament we find ourselves in; injuries, stadium, players and their futures.

Poch isn't blameless in the result but there are some other factors involved as well.

Hey Poch,
We are not going to add to those black and white videos if we don't actually win a trophy. The modern fan/blogger/tourist fan will will hold you in high esteem with another top four finish, but for an older generation of fan you need to add your name to a list that includes Rowe, Nicholson, Burkinshaw, Venables, Graham and Ramos.
As a fan I was upset at losing to Chelsea on Thursday, disappointed in losing previous semis to them and United, but losing to Palace makes me livid. The attitude and performance was all wrong and that puts us in the same conversation as Everton, West Ham and Leicester, who should all be pushing to win a trophy.
A win against Watford and eventually a top four finish is a must. If not, you must take all the criticism that would deservedly come your way.
I have seen some poor losses in my time and no they were not in black and white. They were all too vivid live and in color. I want to be there when you hold aloft a trophy, but that is not going to happen for at least another year. We might not have won anything this year, but we should still be in the fifth round draw.
