We get it, Coopsie, you're better than us.

You've lost me there.

Genuinely, I certainly don't think that. My post was nothing more than a response to someone who said we'd be down with Everton & West Ham if Levy doesn't sell up or invest. Yet that's exactly where we were before he bought us, but lower down in the league than they are now.

Sorry you took my post the wrong way.

Absolute dross first half, 2nd half was better but it wasn’t enough - we needed the biggest comeback since Andros Townsend’s hair line

I’m not too mad, the squad is stretched to breaking point, CL football is essential for us. GKN deserved a chance he just happened to be absolutely hopeless

If Poch is gonna play experimental weakened sides, I’d much prefer he stuck a few more youngsters in there rather than playing barely fit players (Dier) and players woefully out of position (right footed left wing back KWP??).

Poch could have stuck Georgiou at left wing back as at least he’d have been on correct side (and then actually played KWP at right wing back) and should have been blooding Sterling a bit more so he could have been an option up top.

I could see even looking at line-up dodgy putting Dier and Skipp in middle as very defensive and KWP on left is just wrong (especially as a wing back where they’re supposed to provide width).

Ok were out of both cups and we all will wake up pissed off in the morning But when you look at the league table above Chelsea,Arsenal,Man u these clubs have spent more money then us and were above them.Any team with the injury we have will struggle apart from Man city.Lets take out Salah,Mane, and firmino who going too score there goals,Arsenal take out both of there stickers who they got,Man u take out Rashford,Pogba there fucked
I feel some perspective is needed. In 2011/12 we had a squad that consisted of King, Walker, Modric, Lennon (on form), Bale, VDV, Adebayor and thought this is the best squad we’ll ever have! It’ll be criminal if we don’t win some silverware. We ended up just missing out on Champs league qualification and I thought we would never see a Spurs team play in that comp ever again.

7 years later later and we are regulars in the CL and have a much better squad and play better football. We now have a great stadium on the way also. My son has been a Spurs fan for 2 years and seen us beat Real Madrid, all the so called top 4 teams, and draw against Barca.

I used to get excited if we could beat Port Vale in extra time at home to get into the quarter final of the carling/coca cola or whatever it was called. This is better than it has been in a long time. There may be some bumps along the way but I think we’re going to be ok.

Still remember when We got a place in the Europa league I was in tears and then beat Man city for a CL place in tears again.Good times will come because we are doing it the right way, not selling the clubs solo like Chelsea,Man city yeah your right there will be bumps along the way.But when you see players like Winks,Kane local lads playing there heart out that's the spurs we want and I hope when we move too the new ground we will find more players like them in are youth.COYS good days will come soon

This post took the words out of my mouth. We all would love cups but a league cup or an fa cup won’t define us. If city win theee cups then meh they have about 5 squads and it can’t really be stopped.

We need to win a big comp to make a statement . If we were in the new stadium with a fully fit team the champions league would have been massive , the World Cup hasn’t helped our cause at all.

Forget CL we are not winning that anytime soon or probably ever.

No disrespect to you as you have tried to lift the mood and for that I applaud you but this good days will come crap has been going on for year's, and each season it ends in predictable failure and or farce like the last few days so typical so Tottenham.
I like poch I think he is brilliant but what he said yesterday regarding ego boosts and trophies was ridiculous, all he has done was to deflect away the two cup exits to mask some of his mistakes along with the players and the club and I think he might regret that with the ridicule that may come his way.
Considering the rumours that Utd and Madrid wanted him I'm sure they will be happy to hear that trophies don't matter at club's where they do matter and not winning them costs them their job's.

Winner a cup ever season wont attract big name players.Look at arsenal they have won FA cups and look at what they got in there squad they will love it if they can get CL football every season ,Liverpool have not won the league for nearly 30 years and spent money wisely and got lucky with Salah but spent big by playing CL football every season.FA cup will generate around 3.6m if you play CL football name rights, advertising generate's a hell of a lot of money and players want to play in every season.Poch comments make sense if you look at the big picture when it comes too moving to a new ground that will definitely attract big players to come.It will take time maybe under Poch or under someone else.Yes fans want to win cup's players want to win cup's but were a club that has just spent a hell of of lot of money on a new ground and have one of the best training ground in Europe the club is going ok the right way and it will take time.

Once again the pundits and even some of our fans are jumping on the bandwagon of unfair criticism and cheap shots whilst once again the media darlings Livepool get a free pass. There were a few murmours when they went out of both domestic cups to Chelsea and Wolves away and they didn't get half the shit thrown at them that we are getting. They had those players available and they deliberately avoided selecting them. I'd also like to ask this - If Livepool had to do without Salah, Mane and VVD for the next 6 to 8 weeks of Premier League games whilst having to play an in form Man Utd at OT and whilst having to fend off an in form Man City let alone having to face the prospect of having tough CL fixtures against shit hot quality teams like Dortmund ask yourself this - would they still have a four point cushion at the top of the league over Man City ? Would they f*ck ! If it all went wrong for them and they ended up without silverware directly as a result of it - would they get the same kind of shit and unfair criticism and cheap predictable shots thrown at them ? Again would they f*ck.

Without going full ThinkTank here ... I'd like to try swapping Foyth and Dier positionwise. Foyth burst forward (both with the ball or to hussle an opposition player) with better effect yesterday. I've long wondered if Dier should return and focus on CB position (Toby's successor). Having played midfield would only help his ball playing from the back, no?

By no any means we can land a player like Everton can in this moment. They been signing Richarlison, Digne, Gomes recently.

We cant even sign Grealish.

When they start building their ground lets see who they can sign compared to us.

I bleed Tottenham and hate us losing even friendlies, but Poch made the right call today, with the way our squad is depleted what do we expect him. to do, prioritise the cup at this early stage or top 4?we are 7pts clear and with a great chance of getting CL football again which is vital moving into our new stadium both financially and prestigious with the naming rights of our new stadium and not to mention keeping the likes of Eriksen.
Yes i would love a cup run, but not at the expense of Top 4,and that's why Poch had no choice.

The players are knackered at the moment and some needs a rest. Imagine Eriksen picking up an injury as well due to not getting a rest?

Offer MU, Chelsea or the scum the FA Cup or CL i know what they would choose..... Big clubs choose CL all day

Some people probably think we should think smaller at the moment so they can see us win silverware. Its just an opinion, nothing wrong with it. The clubs leaders Levy and Poch seem to be in agreement CL and the ground is what we should be betting on for long term success. Its another way of looking at it, nothing wrong with that and I can understand why. So I can buy into the clubs decision because its no longer short term and throwing money at unsuccessful ventures which could drop us down divisions as it has other clubs.
The way some people whinge and moan and abuse Levy, as if theres is the only way the situation should be looked at and any other viewpoint is wrong. I wish they would f*** off and support someone else that suits their viewpoint.

Given all you said. What odds do you think we truly have of winning the Champions league or Premier League in the next 5 years? Given we historically don't pay the wages req for world class players. Our academy players will never be world class let's face it. I as a Fan want to see trophies. We can finish top 4 for years but at what point do we say it's just not enough?? I think we're already there with that thinking tbh.

Competing there is where the money is whether you win it or not.

If we are no longer interested in competing to win the League Cup and the FA Cup then that should be the club's stated policy and philosophy. Five or ten quid a game to watch the home ties and a team selection based on our U23s or youth. If that is how we approached some of these games then the fans would be far more accepting.

I know this may be heresy on here, but I would take Arsenals recent history over ours. Liverpool too. There is no reason why we could not have won a cup or two in the past five years while still maintaining our top four pursuit.

Klopp and Emery have both won trophies and Poch is in danger of being very much his mentor Bielsa's mirror image, great style and philosophy, but win nothing.

Had we lost to any of the oil funded clubs yesterday then the attitude might have been more accepting of the loss. We didn't. It was Crystal Palace, a relegation threatened team which didn't really want to be in the fifth round. Poch watched Arsenal, West Ham and Everton go out with a whimper, the latter two to lower level opposition. He should have selected a more balanced team to win the game and advance. If we were to draw Man City away in the next round then a weakened team might have been understandable.

Lots of room for debate on this topic and I am sure it will be even stronger now that Poch has made the comments he did about winning a cup.

I love football and my club, but God there are times when I hate the modern game.

I remember the days when the F.A. Cup was almost as big as winning the league and saw us win it many times. We also when the League Cup but have always counted those as irrelevant and couldn't say who we beat and when. Today though we need to be in the Champions League and I love seeing us play against the best in Europe rather than stuffing seven goals past some poor lower division team.

Anyway with our injuries plus the fatigue in the squad I believe Poch did the right thing. Though of course if Poch took the Fergie line and stopped players from international duties then maybe we could win a Caribou cup or whatever it is called.
