Rose did well today. Far too many people moaning about him not being good enough on the basis of one pre season game last Saturday.

Not saying he'll be our left back for years to come but he was good today, offers quite a lot getting forward and he's a tenacious little fuck.

Will get better defensively I'm sure. I expect AVB to improve him just like he's done with others in the squad.

Good first game of the season performance, in difficult conditions and with new players getting to know one another and also getting up to speed of PL football.

Got to say though that we made hard work of this and wasted four of five chances. Lennon just doesn't have that final killer ball, and one does wonder if he should be given a rest?

Sigs again wasted an easy chance to put the game away and this is one of the reasons i think the club will bring another option in. Whether Bale stays or not we need at least one signing that is more clinical than either Lennon or Sigs.

Lloris i thought played outstanding, and all the new boys played well and with Sandro still to come our defensive midfield looks more than capable in helping the back four keep clean sheets.

My fingers must have got fatter this weekend as I keep pressing the wrong thing.

Anyway u hope we persist with Rose, we have a lot of foreign players coming in and I think it's important we try and retain some uk players in the starting line up.

His turned into a right little pitbull hasn't he. Teanacious. Might get him in trouble a couple of times this season, but yeah packs a lot of punch for a little guy.

just read the Holloway post match comments:

Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway: "I've got to learn what a foul is because I thought Nacer Chadli deliberately bodychecked Stephen Dobbie, smashed him down, and ran off with the ball.

"If the referee didn't see that, the assistant should have. You have to ask if he's good enough if he didn't see that. I don't see how he can miss that.

"A minute and a half later, we're arguing over whether it was deliberate handball.

"I don't understand how it was a penalty, or how Dean Moxey could have got out of the way of it. I had three players right behind him.

"It's going to be a long hard season for me with these people (referees). I had this with Blackpool. Certain clubs get fouls and others don't. Tottenham will feel that if they play Man United.

"Do I think I would have got that at Tottenham? No I don't. I just want a bit of fairness. I want a foul like anyone else would have got one.

"I've got a horrible taste in my mouth after that."

He added: "We need to be more adventurous. We haven't had a good pre-season. Half of them aren't fit, which is why Marouane Chamakh wasn't picked.

"We had a great chance at the end with Kagisho Dikgacoi and didn't take it. We've got to learn very quickly."

I liked him previously, but frankly I have no idea what he is on about. Don't remember the chadli incident, and how he can say it wasn't a pen is a joke. The guy stopped a cross coming in with his hand, and he was 5 yards from the ball.

Don't like the dig about us vs man u either. small minded ****

He should head home, his village is missing him

Chadli-Sigurdsson-Lennon isn't good enough i'm afraid & isolates Soldado.

We keep Bale, no problem, suddenly you can perm what you like & we look good enough but if he goes a replacement is essential if we are to play 4-2-3-1 which, I dunno if anyone noticed but at least half the league has played so far. It's the trendy formation of the moment.

So yeah. New AMC is absolutely essential if Bale goes. Maybe we're persisting with 4-2-3-1 hoping he stays & fits straight back into the '10' spot?

To my mind the only person intrinsically suited by 4-2-3-1 is Bale

Little dude even won a few headers. He's got quite the vertical jump for a short guy. I was actually impressed by Rose. Unfortunately, I think Siggy was rather useless today, which is disappointing as I rather like him. Capoue especially looked great, as did Soldado. Chadli looks rather promising, but Paulinho didn't really impress me too much. I expect him to be an important player for us, but I certainly don't get how he was rated MOTM today.

We do lack creativity, but our midfield looks quite immense and if you add Bale (or his replacement/s) to the equation then we should be in really, really good shape this season.

Lloris was excellent. Walker played well and has a ridiculous engine.

Rose was also fairly good. I'm not convinced by him yet but you can tell he is well up for it and has something to prove which is a positive thing to have in the sqaud.

Needed a bit more cutting edge in the final third which will hopefully will come once the team have settled down and clicked a bit. However with Bale not really in the mix anymore we definitely need to sign another creative, goalscoring midfielder.

I'm chuffed. We won our opening game - away from home. When was the last time we did that?

Selhurst was rocking and they were fired up by it. It was a very professional showing and we were bedding in four new players - 3 from the start who haven't kicked a ball in this league before. Paulinho man of the match on debut.

We created a number of chances and any other day we're talking about 0-3, Soldado, Sigurddson and Defoe.

The best thing was Jan's post match interview - he was not content at all. He wants us to be more ruthless and kill the game. Our players of the past would've been bigging up their performance, focusing on the 3 points, tough away match etc (which is all true), but not Jan, he recognises that we need to improve and that is such a great attitude and thoroughly refreshing at Tottenham.

Yes, I love it! He almost looked disappointed. Hopefully his attitude is spread across the team so that they just never settle for less than perfect. This is a title-winning mentality!
