How far out was it?

About 10 or 12k to go, so no chance of everyone caught up getting the same time. It was two crashes, really. Looked like a Europcar rider skidded and went down after it had just started to rain. Brajkovic went flying into a barrier at the side of the road, he's out. As the helicopter was focusing on the riders down there it missed the main crash which was about 30 or 40 metres up the road at a roundabout. It was carnage, pretty much. Riders strewn all over the road. Nasty looking. Giampaolo Caruso was down not moving for ages before being carted off in an ambulance. It seemed only about ten riders missed the crashes completely, including Cadel and three teammates to take him up to the finish line.

Were the roads as bad as yesterday? I saw some highlight and it looked like as soon as there was a bit of rain the roads turned to glass

Not quite as bad, but I don't think it was raining much today. Don't really know what caused the main crash because there wasn't a camera on it at the time. Given how many riders were down it could be anything.

Cadel's possibly blown it today. I can see him losing time in the big mountain stages next week, he needed to extend his lead today. Uran rode a great TT, didn't think he had that sort of ride in him. It's a shame Ulissi lost time behind a crash yesterday, otherwise he'd be well up there.

This looked pretty nasty, apparently he hasn't broken anything.
