Skysports.com understand that Andres D'Alessandro is being lined up for a return to the Premier League.

The Argentine international spent the latter part of the 2005/06 season on loan at Portsmouth and impressed hugely.

After his successful stint with Pompey, D'Alessandro opted against a permanent move to Fratton Park - instead choosing a loan switch to Spain with Real Zaragoza.

He once again impressed during his temporary stay with Zaragoza and they made his move from Wolfsburg permanent this summer.

Fall-out

However, recent weeks have seen D'Alessandro fall-out with team-mate and compatriot Pablo Aimar and coach Victor Fernandez.

D'Alessandro has been welcomed back into the first-team after making a public apology but his long-term future at La Romareda is far from certain.

D'Alessandro's falling out has alerted his former employers Portsmouth, who are regarded as front-runners to secure his signature.

However, skysports.com has learnt that up to half-a-dozen Premier League clubs are interested in taking on the 26-year-old, who has proved before he is capable of handling the physical nature of English football.

Left footed playmaker, who certainly didnt look out of place in the premiership when he played for Pompey. Juande will be aware of his talent i am sure.

D'Alessandro is a player I rate highly, and he is a special player with a special talent. Would be a great signing for us, and would suit Ramos' playing style.

I didn't think he was that good when he was over here really. Certainly don't think he will slot into Juande's plans, as he tends to prefer industrious physical midfield machines, with pace and power as well as good feet as oppose to tricky number 10 type playmakers.

I dreamt the other night that this guy was playing for us. He scored a cracking free kick against West Ham for us.

I'm glad I've got that off my chest.
