But we've just had half a season of makeshift LBs! We have so many games now - I'd absolutely love to have two quality options at both LB and RB. With Adam Smith potentially coming through I'd be happier if we cashed in on Walker or Naughton.

Rose wants to be first choice though and he is no way better than BAE so he will leave.

People saying he was good yesterday, did you REALLY watch the game? If so, your definition of "good" needs looking at. He was at best OK, and for one of the goals (not Bassongs) he completely gave up on chasing his man (who didn't get the ball). If he was to play like that for Spurs we would all, correctly, be on his case.

he was the man of the match, you don't usually win that when you're on the losing side unless you've played well.

He played better than the other shit on the pitch. He is the closest to Tottenham quality out of any of the players that were there, but he isn't all that. And he was terrible for that second goal, just stopped running so he could look innocent if it went to his man. Terrible.

complete and utter shite - he was the best player on the pitch, I was watching the game with 8 other people, and we were all in total agreement.

There is no way he was responsible for Pilkington's goal either.

Oh, I agree. What I am trying to say (poorly) is that he stopped tracking his man for that goal. Had Pilkington had his shot saved the player Rose was marking wourl have had untold time to slot the rebound home. It didn't happen, but it could have. He was at fault, but his fault cost nothing.

I maintain that he is not Tottenham class.

He might not be Tottenham class in the end, but I've been very impressed with him this season and will continue to watch the Sunderland games with interest. Signs are good so I'm prepared to wait and see how he continues to develop.

I thought he would go up there and be a bit 'meh'...but he hasn't, the kid has done well and we are approaching the mid point of the season.

Couple of things.

There's now a rumor out stating that Brendan Rodgers loves Danny Rose and wants to bring him to Liverpool for 5m so that he can have a proper LB and Enrique can stay as a midfielder (Actually makes sense - I'd ask for way more, though).

In regards to today's performance, Rose was fantastic again. He's still great in attack and he can really pick out a pass. He continues to improve as a defender and did nothing wrong today. On the first goal he was near Torres but Cuellar left him run right past him when he should be on his inside shoulder as Rose was on his outside.

As the game progressed, and Sunderland fell more and more behind, Rose moved up and actually took on a more central midfield role and was used to sit in front of the defense and break up play as well as link the midfield to attack. He looked very comfortable and had a couple of bright moments.

Rose's stats (Courtesy of Squawka.com)

35/40 Passing (88% completion), 2/2 Headed Duels (One in the box that came on a free kick), 1 interception, 1/2 tackles completed, 0 Yellow Cards, and 1 sweet shove in Ramires' back.

Fucking Rodgers! I fear he may try to steal a few of our younger players

And it's scary because he's shown the propensity to give young guys playing time. That might be very attractive to our young guys that are on the cusp.

Plus with Inglethorpe there he'll know a lot about them

He's been getting a lot of love but i'm still not sure he can displace Ekotto. Ekotto is one of the best players in our team at maintaining possession. I don't think Rose is on the same level technically or intelligence wise.

It would be great if he would come back and agree to be a squad player but I think he wants first team football.

if Rose carries on like he has, like caulker did last year, would you be surprised to see Benny sold at a profit and Rose replacing him?

There were some reportedly big bids from PSG for him.

It depends on the fee. Also, if Rose's form continues a whole season.

I know a lot of people like to say that Rose looks great because he's surrounded by shit. But I think it's pretty awesome that he's doing so well DESPITE being surrounded by total shit. All it takes is looking at Martin O'Neill apparently wanting to buy him in January. To me, this screams of a guy trying to lock up a young talent with a reasonable fee now, because if he continues to perform this way a whole season, his value will just continue to skyrocket.

I love Benny, but if Rose continues to excel then I don't think we'd be in the place to deny some exorbitant fee for him. I actually think Rose is a great player and I am convinced that if we want him here, he will do just fine for us. He really hasn't had a weakness in his game, and he's only improving.

Either way, this is a great problem to have.
