In Levy's view that will be well above; what he is worth, and well above what we are prepared to pay.

Levy got £15m from us for a player they didn't want and he will sit on a piece of shit till it turns to coal.

Does anyone know long he has left on his contract, that could be an important factor.

Great quote in bold. :D

Saw someone in that thread say they'd take him over Baines. :cautious:

Rose has been good for Sunderland this season but let's not forget that he gets a lot more support from his winger than Rose would in our team. Our left back is often (usually) completely exposed and Rose would have much worse working conditions playing for us than for Sunderland.

He's a very promising young player and one I'd love to see playing for us in the future, but I'm not completely convinced he's ready for a first team spot at Spurs just yet. Great backup though.

I'd be prepared to run with him next season we've spent most of this season playing players out of position there and surely it's the whole point of the youth system. I want us to become a club that's not afraid to put faith in it's youngsters, besides if he's looking out of his depth we can look to address the problem in january

£14m is insane money.

I think he could realistically fetch £7-9m.

BAE's contract ends in June 2015, so 2 years left after the end of the season.

He's just 29 and despits some comments on here, I would think he's been one of the PL's top LB's for the last couple of seasons. I think there could be some pretty good clubs who would see him as a decent catch (there are not that many decent LB's out there), so would suggest a higher range, maybe £9m - £12m......which DL might see as a challenge to put some add ons (perhaps based on appearances) to get the figure up.

Edit :

Whoops, assumed it must be BAE as I couldn't see Rose going for £14m, that's definitely insane.

Agree £7m - £9m for Rose...but only if we wanted to sell, personally think BAE is the one we sell and we keep Rose. Or just possibly we swell both if we can get £25m for both to buy a LB, have £15m towars a strike....and rely on a RB as LB cover or Vertonghen as LB cover

We could sell BAE and Dempsey and play Townsend/sig and rose/verts pocket 15 mil to add to the squad and lower our wage bill. We could also sell naughton as we have smith money ball here we come.

Why sell him? English, had a great season in the premier league, plays a position we are weak in.

Just makes sense to keep him, sell BAE and give him a chance.

Had another great game from what I saw on MOTD, what I'm really liking is he seems to have a intense will to win, as well as all the physical attributes.

From a Sunderland fan on another forum:

If Tottenham let Danny Rose go they must be mad. Even if he was two foot tall with the same attributes he has now he'd still be an excellent full back. His reading of the game, positional sense and pace means you can barely ever get past him and watching him come forward with the ball is exciting, very very good player. Best full back I've seen in a Sunderland shirt

I just cant see him being in AVB's plans.

He is a good little player and having a great season in Sunderland.
How many times have we seen AVB drop BAE for Verts so we have someone better in the air at LB.
He also doesnt want to sit on our bench and thats why he is out on loan.

I think he could have been a great squad player, who could fill in down the left if needed.

The games I have seen, its often been McClean and Johnson swapping wings and neither are exactly great at tracking back and helping the fullback.

Plus you could turn it round and say that as Sunderland are a poorer team they are more often on the back foot and so he would get tested more for them than if he was playing for us, where you would think we have more of the ball and be more on the front foot.

AVB said when Rose was loaned out to Sunderland that he was in his plans, and has said similar about Townsend. I think this situation will be similar to Walker and Caulker, in that Rose will be given the chance to show he can do it for us next season unless we can find someone much better for a reasonable price.

Got to play him next season. Save the money for further upfield!

This is the crux of it, I think there are other priorities in the team that need sorting, purchasing a striker is obviously the main one.

I don't know how much we're gonna be able to spend in the summer but I doubt we'll be looking for another LB when we've just sent one out on loan who has just had a very good season in the Premiership and we also bought a LB last season.

A Sunderland fan's view

Dynamite Danny Rose

Whilst all the talk around the Stadium of Light focuses on a new arrival in particular a certain Italian import that is making a difference on wear side. I want to talk about someone who has been ever present this season and is from a little bit closer to home, on loan full back Danny Rose.

The left back has been consistently impressive and Sunderland will surely want to make his signing a permanent one at the end of the season. Danny rose was born and raised in Yorkshire and came through the youth ranks at Leeds before making a £1 million pounds move to the capital and Tottenham Hotspur in 2007.

It’s never really worked out for Rose at Spurs though he has spent several seasons on loan at Championship clubs and despite enjoying a brief spell in the Tottenham first team he has never really made the left back spot his own.

At the start of the season it was announced that Rose would join Sunderland on loan and he has really shone this season. He has consistently put in impressive performances packed full of energy and has shown real technical ability on the ball.
His appearance in the 1-0 victory over Everton epitomised a typical Danny Rose performance. The left back was rock solid at the back showing terrific positional sense and good strong tackling to snuff out any Everton Danger down the right hand side.
One thing that is particularly impressive about the 22 year old is his acceleration, when he needs to he can really motor and he continually outpaced Everton attackers when the ball was played in behind something which he also did well at St James’s Park last weekend too.

Another stand out attribute of the full back is his energy levels, he kept going all game making quick burst up field to support attacks when his side were on the front foot whilst still having the stamina to return to his position.

His desire to win the ball must also be applauded one incident which shown this was as he took a heavy touch going forward it looked like he was to lose the ball to an Everton player before stretching to keep hold of it in a strong challenge before firing in a clean strike on goal.

The introduction of Paulo Di Canio seems to have done the trick with two wins from two putting Sunderland closer to safety, one thing is for sure if they are safe they should definitely be looking at Danny Rose as a possible permanent signing.
He has made the left back spot his own this year, becoming a fan favourite at Stadium of Light and it would be a waste to let him go back to sitting on the bench at Spurs. It would be a surprise if Sunderland aren’t willing pursue his signature permanently.

I don't really understand the point you are trying to make. I am saying that I don't think Rose is good enough for us. I am not saying that we shouldn't give youth a chance if they are at the required level, as a explained with my point about Caulker.

Hogwash... You only have to go back a few years & BAE was SHIT!! If memory serves me correctly, he was unable to get into a team that selected defenders from the choices of, Chimbonda, Stalteri, Ziegler, Davenport, Ifil & the mighty Lee Young-Pyo.. He only played 2 matches in the whole season back in 2007/08, and unlike Townsend (who isn't even 22 yet) BAE was bloody 24 at the time. Though, like I said, look at the talent he had to compete with!!

Based upon your opinion/stance, we should have binned Ekotto 5 years ago??
