I believe that ITK has said that we won't deal with Chelsea - but maybe Batshuayi for Rose is a scenario that could be considered.

One plus is that Batshuayi has already tried to help the cause by scoring for us in last Sunday's game. Imagine what he could achieve if he was actually playing for Tottenham Hotspur...

Seriously? Our first choice, and the league's best, left back for a PL-unproven striker who will spend most games on the bench?

Thought that post would get some responses. But not so many and so quick.

Not that I think it would work - especially in view of the relationship between the two clubs. And past ITK that (I think) said that Batshuayi was on very high wages.

I wonder (in the current climate) whether we would rather do business with Arsenal or with Chelsea - if we had to choose one.

Tough one but I would say Arsenal....they're playing by the same rules. Of all the things I dislike about them, there are a few things to be admired and that is they try to stay withing their means, develop younger players, and gradually build up sources of revenue. I'd rather beat Arsenal than any other club but I despise Chelsea much more.

We just can't sell him. He was the best left back in the country last season by a mile. We would regret it big time.

Depends if we're prepared to take the risk in terms of which Danny Rose we'll get? Moody cba Danny Rose of old or the dedicated, hard working and focused Rose of last season prior to his injury? Even if we get the latter, will he be able to perform to the same level following his serious knee injury? and can we afford the gamble of him hitting the ground running or bite the bullet and ship him out for circa £50-60m? It would be interesting to hear how he's responded following his outburst and pressured? apology

Before the Rose interview and rumours of Walker falling out with Poch if you'd said to any Spurs fan we're gonna end up with possibly Trippier and Davies as first choice they'd have been fuming.

I don't care about a 17 year old who's never played at high level (actually think he's gonna be class in future but he'll end up as a winger) losing both first team full backs and not buying first team replacements would be an absolute joke.

Spot on. The happiness at rose to sessegnon shocks me..I put it down to anger at rose and new player syndrome, where people just want signings. He may be the future, but Rose is the best on the country now and to a direct rival, we may as well pack it up as its their one weak spot.

Davies and Trippier did well last season but they flourished when Son was on fire and giving us a pacy outlet in attack. Without Son we're totally one dimensional and it showed against both Newcastle and Chelsea. Sessegnon has the making of a quality wing back but it would be a case of throwing him in the deep end and hoping he swims as opposed to being overrawed and drowning. The same applies to KWP. We need at least one experienced full back who can at least go some way to meeting Rose and Walker's pace/stop the opposition full/wing backs from having a free reign.

What's the record for players recovering to their best form after an injury like this?

I imagine Poch has weighed the pro's and cons and thinks this is the best deal all round. Rose has probably had his head turned and there's no point keeping him if he's unhappy and there's no guarantee he'll return to his best. Getting Martial in exchange might be the best option available.

Danny Rose set for decisive talks on Tottenham future

Danny Rose is set for decisive talks with Tottenham Hotspur this week after a breakdown of his relationship with manager Mauricio Pochettino, sources have told ESPN FC, with Manchester United interested in the defender.

Rose's agent, Mark Rankine, is due to meet to Daniel Levy for crunch talks on Wednesday but the Spurs chairman is expected to reiterate that Rose is not for sale, despite the left-back's desire to leave the club before the transfer deadline.

The sources said that Rose and Pochettino have not spoken privately since the defender's explosive interview with a national newspaper a fortnight ago, even after Rose issued a written apology.

The England international, who was fined two weeks wages' for the outburst, was once so close to Pochettino that he was jokingly referred to as the "gaffer's son" by his teammates but their relationship, which was already cooling, has deteriorated since Rose broke ranks and criticised the club's transfer policy and wage structure.

United boss Jose Mourinho said afterwards that he had "nothing to do with interview" and that Pochettino and Levy "would not be happy" if he commented on the situation.

The sources said United are interested in Rose, although Spurs are yet to receive any bids this summer, and the Yorkshireman -- who has said he will play in the north of England before he retires -- would welcome the chance to move to Old Trafford.

But, with fewer than 10 days remaining in the transfer window, Rose is increasingly resigned to staying at Spurs for now. The 27-year-old has not played since January due to a knee injury and he is not expected to return to full training until next month at the earliest, which further dampens his chances of leaving the club before Aug. 31.

Little does he know of Levy's sick sense of humor as his goal of moving back up north and joining United is foiled by the never before known and now revealed sister club of Spurs: North Pole United

Frankly the injury situation in itself suggests to me he won't be leaving this summer. He will also have to knuckle down, even if he wants to move away next season, as no one will buy him if he goes a season and a half without first team action.

To me, Rose departure is not the "we will lose one", solution many think. Too much noise from ITK saying he will not be sold, despite his outburst. Of course there are still days left in the TW, but I believe at this point that Rose will remain a Spurs player for this season at least.

You don't cross Poch and live to tell the tale at Spurs. Imo his days were numbered from the second that interview was published. If he doesn't go this window, I'd be very surprised if the next summer window ends and he is still here.
