From the official site...We have reached agreement with West Ham United for the transfer of Calum Davenport to Upton Park.

The 24-year-old joined us from Coventry City at the end of August 2004 and went straight out on loan to the Hammers, where he spent three months and made 10 appearances for the then Championship side.

He returned to the Lane and made his First Team debut away to Aston Villa as a substitute in December of 2004. Calum went on to enjoy loan spells at both Southampton and Norwich before making his home debut in our colours against Manchester United in April 2006.

Calum made 15 appearances for us this season. We wish him every success in the next stage of his career.

    The plot thins.

Who is to replace him - given that Dervitte is injured all season - as we are short of cover now?
  2. infamousyiddo
unless were bringing someone of worth i dont see the point of this, surely davenport was better cover than gardner. who saw that big lug last nite vs cardiff...shocking!!!
  3. Issac
The plot thickens instead for me.

I have no idea who will replace him...I hope this deal means we've already lined up a new defender...if not, I would prefer rather we kept Davenport.

Anyway, all the best, Davenport! ^_^

    UPDATE:

Jol will not be bringing in anymore players due to him preferring the WM formation, further saying that any one of King and Dawson is more than enough for the single CB position in that formation

    Can't understand this Eek
  6. cabinfever
Interesting!! On the verge of a new signing - I wonder who?
  7. martins_jolly_babies
What you on about WM formation?
  8. Funk
We better have someone else lined up, gardner is toss which he proved again last night. He gave away silly fouls and didn't look comfortable at all.
  9. Edgar_Davids
That is a joke! We best be getting an established (and fantastic, unbeatable) defender in! Davenport has been playing really well!

If Tottenham screw this up, im writing a letter i tell you! Writing a letter!

New signing imminent - Rocha? Ben Haim? Davies? or someone else!?! Ben Haim is my perfect buy, accustomed to the english game, quite young 24/25, relatively cheap 3-4million or free in the summer. The smart money is on Rocha though after the recent reports. Can't claim to have seen him or know anything about him, sounds like he has experience, which we need, but still sounds an odd signing, but hey ho, time will tell!

    Eh?!?

I am not sure I understand what you are talking about. Playing one centre half? We haven't done that all year!
  12. YiddishSingh
what on earth is a WM formation?
  13. DOX
    Here comes Ferdinand....
  14. infamousyiddo

    eh.......

    So what

We've all been watching davenport for over a year now, i have not seen any progression in his play. Jol has had this guy with the first team all season and obviously is not over impressed, other wise he would not be selling him.

We need genuine competition for places and neither King or Dawson have any worries about being in the first team right now if they are fit.

I doubt there is any need to worry, with two weeks left in the transfer window, they must already know who they are going to replace Davenport with.

Kings not going to be fit for the Goons; our biggest game of the season so far. So it's Gardner or a debutant with no relationship with his team-mates up against Henry. Can Rocha speak English? How fit is he? How many foreign defenders fit straight in to a Prem team without adjusting? Personally I would have preferred Davenport!

    Views?
  17. Kurtzen
We going 3-5-2? Where's Xmastreeformation when we need him?
  18. Yid_Army10
I think by WM he meant WB (wing backs) but very unlikely still.

remember people we haven't got clowns in charge of our club any more, trust the set up I am sure they have thought this through.

Maybe one of the reserves/youth are ready for the step up or maybe the elusive Defendi may make an appearance, or is he out on loan again?

if we want a fast CB....defoe can play there...or maybe Lennon...:hello:
