I'd certainly back bringing him in as number 2 to a new signing goalkeeper.

Friedal, Cudicini and Gomes out - someone new in. One of:

Al Habsi
Krul
Vorm

Would work for me.

No chance of us getting Krul now, especially if they finish above us. Al Habsi is Gomes-esque as well, makes incredible saves but a lot of blunders.

I reckon if Rodgers comes in we'll go for Vorm.

I would like us to sign a "proper" keeper like Lloris or stekelenberg etc. there are only so many "big teams" out there with 1 too keeper so we should appeal to this type of player.

If we want a proper keeper, either Guaita or Diego Alves from Valencia. They are both fantastic, but the problem is because they play on the same team they don't get enough playing time, and Valencia are still in trouble financially so they will sell. Tbh, we'd probably get Alves as Guiata has been on a different level the past month, best keeper in Spain easily.

I do like Button for a 2nd/3rd keeper though.

Diego Lopez is another option.

Barnsley 0 - 0 Brighton

Button helped earn a clean sheet in the last game of the season for Barnsley, his 9th game for them (and 16th in the Championship this season - the others being for Doncaster who dropped a couple of positions after he left and were relegated - bet they wish they had kept him as they climbed a position of two when he played for them)

BBC :
Gus Poyet's side's most encouraging spell was at the end of the first half when Gary Dicker forced an impressive save from David Button, with a shot from the edge of the area, and Joe Mattock's 25-yard drive was comfortably held by the Barnsley goalkeeper.

I'd have him as our first choice next season, but I've been championing this boy for years.

This (or at least second choice).

Take a risk, if he then looks a bit iffy we have the insurance of Friedal (and probably Cudicini still) allowing us some breathing space to look at another option.

It's an ideal time for him to start making a breakthrough into the first team though.

Yep, agreed re: Krul plus he's just signed a new deal with Newcastle and seems to be very happy up there.
