Will be a good test for him if he plays, hope he can cut it in the Championship.

Would be great to have a proper homegrown keeper again, haven't had one since Walker.

Good chance to get experience at the level.

Neil Sullivan (Doncaster's first choice goalkeeeper, now 41) is out injured, but was dropped for Carl Ikeme who joined on loan from Wolves (loan expires 4 January) who was also injured at start at December. They have been using 21 year old Garry Woods as goalkeeper recently who has apparantly not impressed.

Hopefully he can get some games. He looks impressive, but whether he actually is I don't really know. This should be a good test for him.

I have heard some very gd things from my man ITK he says he is highly regarded by our gk staff but needs lower level playin time. Most keepers dont play first team premership level till about 24/25 there are some exceptions thou.

Quiet debut it seems but that is probably good - no goals conceded in Doncaster's 2-0 win which moved them off the bottom of the table - hopefully it means he'll get a run of games.

BBC Web site report :

'......forced David Button into just one real save. The Rovers keeper, making his debut after joining on loan from Tottenham, did well to save from Scott Wiseman'.

I know it's a lower level, but at Plymouth last season i think he was their player of the year? Certainly Peter Reid was waxing lyrical about him and said he has a big future. The highlights i saw of him that season - he looked excellent. Should find himself in the 25 in 2013/14 although i'm not sure he'd be first choice with GK's like Krul and Vorm potentially on our radar

Shrewsbury fans were also raving about him, saying he was better than Joe Hart at the same age.

We need a young keeper coming through with the age of friedal and cudicini, playing for doncaster should give him plenty of practice

Another clean sheet against Cardiff today, second in the Championship - important for Doncaster as they climb out of relegation zone.

Spurs goalkeeper will remain at Keepmoat Stadium for an extra month.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper David Button has extended his loan spell at Doncaster Rovers by a further month.

Button, 22, joined Rovers on New Year's Day and has made an instant impression at the Keepmoat Stadium with two clean sheets in four appearances to date.

Veteran goalkeeper Neil Sullivan and Wolves loanee Carl Ikeme remain on the sidelines having both undergone thumb surgery.

That means Button, who has experienced 12 different loan moves away from Spurs, can expect to remain in Dean Saunders' starting line-up during his second month in South Yorkshire.

The England youth international has earned 31 junior caps for his country and has enhanced his reputation while at Doncaster.

Doncaster are also looking to send 21 year old Garry Wood (who started the season as no 1 goalie) out on loan - Neil Sullivan still out injured.

BBC :

Hull 0 - 0 Doncaster

Hull missed the chance to close on the top two teams in the Championship after a goalless draw at the KC Stadium.

Doncaster goalkeeper David Button, on-loan from Tottenham, had an inspired evening with a string of fine saves.

He kept out Corry Evans, Cameron Stewart and several Robert Koren efforts, while Matty Fryatt fired wide.

Sounding promising at the moment, we'll need a third keeper as Gomes and Cudi are out of contract (if the rumours of Krul are true).

I am going to the Doncaster vs Reading game tomorrow and I am looking forward to seeing him play, hopefully he doesn't play too well as I want Reading to win.

I'm hoping for him to be one of the three goalies next season, he's been brilliant everywhere he's been. Third choice once we've lost Gomes on a free, could be perfect. Friedel and Cudicini both have one more year, both are ageing but still competent, so lets give this guy that opportunity to break through.

Agreed. He has been getting some lower league experience, and unless a championship or PL team wants him as No.1 for next season, he should stay at the club and play some cup games.
