Rumours that his loan spell at Doncaster has come to an end as Doncaster could only sign him for a further one month (ie not to end of season), so Doncaster have re- signed Carl Ikeme from Wolves to get a reliable goalkeeper until end of season.

Button played 8 games in total with 3 clean sheets, so imo has proved he can handle the goalkeeper position in the championship. Ideally he would get a similar loan to a championship side until end of season, but these not easy to get.

Only question for me is whether he becomes Spurs no 3 goalkeeper next season or gets another championship/lower premiership loan.

I think he needs some prem time not just cup time. Look what a loan did for Joe Hart or how players like Krul have come along since they started playing regularly. Similarly players like foster who was sat on the bench alot never quite met their potential.

Agreed in principle...but apart from Joe Hart at Birmingham, how many other Premiership teams can you recall who relied upon a loan goalkeeper. I suspect that unless Button is very lucky none of the Premiership teams next season (ie including 3 coming up) will have a regular starting space for a goalkeeper. If so, what do Spurs do then, loan to a Championship side (usually there are only a couple of teams who get a vacancy) or retain him as no 3. Its a toughie !

I'd like to see him spend a whole season in the championship, preferably at a promotion hunting side. If there is a Prem team who wants him as first choice then even better.
