Former Arsenal vice-chairman Davd Dein has admitted Tottenham were his club’s closest allies during his time with the Gunners.

Dein was a leading figure at the north London club from 1983 to 2007 and oversaw the appointment of Arsene Wenger in 1996 as well as playing a key role in the formation of the Premier League in 1992.

I met Dein (and Houllier) at a party once. Quite surreal. Someone introduced me and I bluffed my way through it.

They were very friendly, despite them having NFC who I was (a nobody lol).

Forever tainted by the Arse/FA connection.
Should not be able to wear two hats in this game.

I met him back in the day in the player's lounge at Highbury (Courtesy of Mikey Thomas, David Rocastle (RIP) and Paul Davis who I knew at the time). When he was shaking my hand he asked me how long I had been supporting Arsenal I said I don't, I am a yid! The look on his face especially when Mikey and co were snickering in the back ground because they knew. To make it even better, I had a glass of their expensive bubbly in my other hand when I said 'Cheers COYS"

From a fan's perspective sure, but as an executive they all have to deal with each other all of the time. There's always a fierce rivalry, just like any business, but a bit of respect is also very important. We're lucky that we can wear the one badge 24/7, but players, managers, executives all need to adapt from time to time.

I'm referring specifically to two incidents. Lasangagate and another when David Dein got a Saturday lunchtime match vs Southampton called off at a very late time that morning and Arsenal had an important CL game coming up.
