What is the deal with this guy? I find his comments so corny and over the top. Totally fed up of him blaming a football club for the fortunes of his local residents.

I think he is just using us for publicity.

Now he says hes gonna sue the club if they take the name of Tottenham to Stratford?

In fairness though he has a point. If Spurs do move from WHL then the area will need a football club to move in. Surely they will have the right to take the Tottenham name??

Just an observation.

He does come across as it bit of a tool. Basically got annoyed that we didn't want to renovate the whole of tottenham. And every day comes out with another sad story.

Er why?

Halifax Bank was bought by Bank of Scotland, did the town of Halifax demand Halifax change their name?

What a silly argument?

Don't blame him.
He's the MP for Tottenham and the area faces disaster if Tottenham Hotspur move.
It is a great pity that the Council didn't realise this earlier.
Please note I will still support us if we move but the area he represents will go downhill faster hence his comments.

Being that 'a football club' (a huge corporation, not some lads in the park having a laugh) is one of the biggest employers in the (very deprived) area, and supports a whole number of other local businesses, why on earth is it surprising that it would devastate the local economy if it left?

When any industry leaves an area with precious little other sources of income, obviously it will 'affect the fortunes of local residents'.

Are people really that fucking stupid?

It is not Haringey Council's, or David Lammy's fault that Levy so obviously prefers Stratford.

It is PROFIT.

Seeing as people seem to be struggling with that still.

No.

The stadium costs and transfer budgets are completely separate.

PROFIT = Stockholder payday....duh

If thats the case they should have bent over backwards to help us stay. Instead they shafted us for every penny.

Companies receive incentives and tax breaks for investment. If Tottenham is so poor they should have helped us with some of the investment.

You cant really blame levy for not wanting to invest half a billion in that shit hole.

For me he brought up some relevant and poignant stuff. I for 1 think its wrong to move to Stratford, for short term profit. I think if we stay at WHL we will make less now and gain more later.

I have always supported the club (not the area) but it will be a sad day if we move to East london. money is destroying football.

Always been an unashamed careerist and unprincipled opportunist.

He's a bad odor next to the memory of Bernie Grant.

I've seen David Lammy in the Park Lane end several times - dating back at least five years so he does support the team to a degree, even if he can't pronounce all the names for some reason.

He has to put up a fight to keep the major and most prestige employer in his constituency but I do feel he should spend more of his efforts on getting the council to drop the plan to make us sort out the transport. Do they want us here or not?

They havent 'shafted us for every penny' - see other thread. Costs for investments into transport and infrastructure around £10 million. Not a big deal considering how big the budget for either new stadium is. The transport costs are a red herring.

Has he done anything constructive to help the club redevelop WHL and increase capacity? Was he at any stage trying to help the club make the expansion project viable? He seems to have given up on us staying and is looking to absolve himself of any blame should we move.

Are THFC really one of the biggest employers in the area? At most they probably only employ around 200 people or so and out of them how many would be local people? Surely none of the high paying jobs from players, to coaches, to medical, to boardroom have nothing to do with the area.

Exactly, they are a 110m a year business. The Tesco at seven sisters probably does similar money.
