He's far too good to play for Spurs. If he comes, we should be honoured, not slagging him off for being 31.

Tottenham fans contemplating whether signing David Villa would be worth it lmfao......
Its the price of the player and the wages he would want for 2 or 3 seasons that people are questioning i think. The player is obviously class, but 12m for a 31 year old is silly. 6/7 million and i think we should be all over it. wont happen anyway.

Get what you're saying but I'd gladly pay £12m for someone who could have the ability to take us to the next level, bagging a shedloads of goals on the way, regardless of age. It's a gamble, but we've made less risky deals for more expensive players that have turned out to be shite.

But say adding another 10m = 22m you could maybe get benteke? 22 years old. pretty much sorted for ten years. other than wages obviously. And a sell on value if we decide to sell. Hay ho. neither will happen.

31, had a bad injury that kept him out for ages, and coming into a physically more demanding league, £8-12m + huge wages?!! no thanks, there's plenty of young, hungry talent out there for the same cost and less wages, the only problem is Spurs' seemingly not very good scouting!!

David Villa would be a fucking blessing

he's a ready made world class striker still in his prime, move him back into the middle stick Bale in the hole behind him and watch him hit 31 fuckn goals lol

About a goal every other game as a career average (including at International level) means he knows where the net is, even with him never having played in England he's the type of finisher we need and I think he'd do well.

If it's thrifty enough Danny will be all over this, the wages he'll get offered make it seem doubtful IMO though. LOTS of teams will be interested in him and we don't half fuck about with this striker thing...I'm dubious, moreso because I'd love it to happen and well that hardly ever happens when it come to Spurs.

People saying Benteke. should remember that Villa sold Barry, Milner and Young for big money despite not having much on their contract left(Milner did but he went for £28millionish). Out of all those players Benteke has had a better breakthrough season than any of them and he is currently playing better than a £24million striker they signed.

To Say Benteke will cost £20million in my opinion is very optimistic

Yeah mate agree, I like all you guys that post in here but some of you are a bit obsessed with signing youngsters. Whilst I too believe we need to keep signing good young players, I think you need that mix of youth with experience, otherwise you just end up in a constant state of transition waiting for 'youngsters' to develop. Even Wenger has realized it doesnt work. Klinsmann was 30/31 when we signed him.

It astounds me that some fans genuinely want us to sign Son Heung-Min instead of a World Cup winning striker playing at the best team in the world.

Would be a good signing for us regardless of age. One thing he does that we really need is score goals. You give Villa chances and he'll stick them away.

Would be an improvement on both our strikers so that in itself would be pleasing!

I see sense in pairing an unproven talent like Damiao with an experienced player like Villa. If Leandro fails to hit the floor running, you have guaranteed goals waiting in the wings. Villa would obviously be the starter, giving Damiao time to settle in and a couple of years to grow into the lead striker role.

If we could get these two for £25m and sell Ade and Defoe for £15m, we'd be so much better off for it.

It's a good idea, but I doubt that a) we'll get those 2 in for £25m, and b) we'll make wholesale changes to our strikeforce, although I wouldn't be opposed to seeing both strikers leave with the way they've been this year.

You do raise a good point in Damiao though. He may not hit the ground running at all, and we'll need to make sure we have an experienced striker ready to pick up the pieces. The only problem is I don't know if Villa will hit the ground running either, he's suited to the Spanish style and isn't proven over here. I know a world class striker could potentially play anywhere but he's lost a bit of his cutting edge through injury and not every player can produce the goods wherever they go.

lets save ourselves some time.

not happening.

it's like saying a number of world class players want to play for tottenham for free. Equally a number of Emma Watsons want to ride me (sexy and you know it) cock,

that number is zero

We'd be foolish to flog Adebayor.

What on the basis of one good goal against Chavs this season? He doesn't suit our game, sits too deep, seems to get a nose bleed in the box, his heading is awful and he has an awful first touch. Personally I never wanted him and I'll be more than happy if we sell him this summer, I think it'll be tough though because getting anyone prepared to cough up for his wages is going to difficult even if we let him go on a free

Agreed Bro,

Young, hungry and fearless for me.

More importantly, someone who can grow and develop with the squad for years to come and give us time to nurture some really home grown English striking talent and bring them through.
