He's a year older than Robin Van Persie, and a year younger than Dimitar Berbatov - both of whom are better than anything we've got.
good point but they were already settled into the BPL, Villa would have to adapt to the toughest league in the world at this age. Plus he has just recovered from a long-term injury so there's no knowing he will be the same player. 5 years ago an I would've cried from my penis, now I think we could do better

We could also do a hell of a lot worse.

Villa is not some unproven amateur, he's FC Barcelona's #7. It's not just what he'd do on the pitch, it's the effect a player of his stature and with his winning nature would have on our younger players, on the rest of our dressing room, and the statement of intent having his name on our team sheet would send out to the rest of the league and the rest of Europe.

Think about it... Adebayor playing like he did last season, Leandro Damiao as an investment for both now and the future, David Villa as an experienced player who has won the World Cup yet still has a few more seasons in him, and Dempsey to come in and fill gaps where required. Delicious.

Yes, it does sound nice. For some reason I was under the impression of LD/Villa, but both would be tasty on top of the 2011-2012 Ade. If only it was that simple:unsure:...

I think Villa would replace Dempsey.

Lets look at it this way, would you rather have a £6mill Dempsey or a £10mill Villa, remember one is prem proven.

Well, we need to bring in more than one striker, I don't see why we shouldn't be considering both - if they're available and if AVB wants them.

Can't see why he'd come to us. There are plenty of teams out there who can pay an awful lot more for him than we can. PSG, Malaga and a few Russian teams would blow us out of the water if he was available.

Graham Hunter says he wants to come to london and depending on the race for fourth may depend on where he goes. Though Arsenal's interest has cooled lately.

Also Seriously Malaga, they dont pay their current players why would anyone want to go there after this season

Thought Malaga were skint and banned from Europe, maybe even banned from making transfers? I think Villa has mentioned that he fancy's the Prem, also he has his heart set on playing in the next World Cup, if true he wouldnt really want to go to Russia. PSG maybe, but do they want him? they can pretty much sign who they want (with a few exceptions). I'm not saying we're gonna sign him, I'm just not against it happening.

Does anyone remember the window or 2 weeks whilst Ramos was here and we were strongly linked with Ronaldinho, Eto'o and Villa. I remember being really optimistic for that season LOL:LOL:

But he isnt Premiership proven! And Dempsey got 17 goals and shit load assist for fulham:rolleyes:

Oh yeah fair point.

I mean I know he's slayed in La Liga and bossed in the World Cup, but I bet he'd crumble when faced with the might of Cardiff City, the ferocity of Norwich, and the Pochettino Revolution.

Best we stick with Clint.

Do you not think he'd be a Defoe replacement/upgrade, rather than a Dempsey one? The latter's decent as a utility player to be fair - it's good to have a couple of these in your squad (one attacking, one defensive ideally), particularly for a tactician like AVB.

Both imo, I see us getting another striker(Leandro) as well or another striker/Winger like villa or Son or PEA or Remy

It is too risky for us.

Every transfer we make needs to be as risk free as possible. If the manager deems that he doesn't want a player then we need to move them on by getting as much of our out lay back as possible. Our club is running on tight budgets because as a business our income pales in comparison to our those we are competing with.

Villa will cost 10m+ £150k per week wages!! I don't understand why you can't see why this is too much of a risk for us?!

He is not guarantee to be a success - like any other player - but younger players have more chance of improving and adapting. Plus if they don't adapt the club has a much bigger chance of reclaiming their original outlay. It make more business sense.

If we'd signed him in January, our CL place would be a done deal by now, more than recouping his value.

I don't understand where the "risk" is involved in signing David sodding Villa. There's far more risk in signing Leandro or Benteke. It's really very simple. HE IS DAVID SODDING VILLA.

That was made in a time when we had a shit team and weren't competing at the top end of the prem. I don't see what your point is.
LOL, so because we are 4th in the league you wouldnt sign a Klinsmann? You're argument really is running out of steam now.
