Tottenham midfielder Edgar Davids is the latest player to be linked with a move to America.

    Source: Sky Sports

MLS side FC Dallas claim they are in talks to sign the former Ajax and Juventus man.

Davids' future at Tottenham has been the subject of intense speculation as he struggled to hold down a regular place in Martin Jol's side this term.

Dallas coach Steve Morrow claims Spurs are willing to let Davids go and that the American club are leading the chase for the Dutchman's signature.

"We are actually in negotiations with Edgar Davids - we've been speaking for a couple of weeks," Morrow told BBC London radio.

"We were excited to hear about his availability, so we spoke to his agents and have been told he is available.

"It appears Tottenham are willing to listen to offers.

"It's the transfer window in the United States now - and if a deal is going to happen it has to be done before the end of the month."

Steve Morrow, Steve Morrow........now I remember. Wasn't he the dirty gooner who got hoisted on the shoulders of Donkey Adams after scoring the winning goal in the league cup final only to be dropped and break his arm......happy days! :violin: <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

Anyway back to Davids, hope he doesn't move. We could do with his experience in all competitions, failing that a spot on the coaching staff would definitely benefit the up-and-coming youngsters.<o:p></o:p>

Posted this last night, must have been later than 12 then :)

Reckon this will probably happen. He's become further from the first team than fringe players now. I'd wish him well and we might get a small sum for his services, which would help us in the market for some left-sided players this window.

Now lets make a couple of quailty signings and get out of the market before it gets too silly again....

Interesting. Good luck to him if he goes. He obviously isn't part of the plan at WHL.

It's a shame because he is one of the few (central) midfielders we have that is actually prepared to fight. A quality most players have certainly lacked in nearly all of our away games this season!

£48k a week to nurture youth? Naaaaah, I hope he goes and takes murphy and Tainio with him. These players are mediocrities who Jol is standing by and as a result young players like O'Hara are actually stifled because theres is no entrance through to the first team!
Besides that, when they play the team plays worse. davids cannot pick a pass and hasn't got his old energy so makes silly tired challenges, Murphy is a knackered old horse who'll do ten bad things for every good thing he does, which in midfield is especially a problem, and Tainio is just completely purposeless, a new Leonhardsen if you will!
I would be perfectly happy to have Huddlestone, Jenas, Zokora and Ghali battle for the two spots with O'Hara trying to break through, not to mention Malbranque can go there as well. And if we were to bring in another central midfielder it should be someone with genuiine attacking class! With Lennon and Malbranque on the wings, we should bring in someone to back up Lennon on the right and someone to compete with Malbranque on the left (perhaps recall Routledge and give Ziegler more than one chance every 15 games). I don't want out midfield changed too much, especially not midseason!

i'm not fussed by Tainio.....but the rest

Tainio before his injuries was a very complete midfielder, and a wonderful backup for the midfield - I agree since he has been back that he has been quite mediocre.

Murphy...I never understood his signing and completely agree with your analysis.

Davids...it was time for him to leave at the end of last season and so lets reduce the wages - I agree with your view on him.

Only problem is, whats going to happen when we get injuries - We have actually need all of our midfields pretty much. Ohara is a talent, but still untested. It would be worrying to let all three leave - I would personally let Muprhy and Davids leave.

Thank you very much for your service Edgar - brief but useful, and we are a better team for your influence. Go with my blessing for that final pay day in the sun...

As for Tainio, I'm not sure I'd be quite as quick to offload him. He may not be the player to take us to the 'next level' (whatever that means), but he is a solid squad player, happy to play wherever asked and generally does so competently enough. He may not be world class (but how many of our players are?), but he is useful cover and (I imagine) not on a particularly onerous contract. I would rather see Murphy off first, I suspect he is costing us significantly more.

I appreciate the point about holding up young players coming through, but if they are good enough they will play - and I can only assume the fact we haven't seen more of O'Hara et al is that they are not up to it yet.

I'm sure Edgar Davids could learn a lot from Steve Morrow...

    Davids is a legend...

It's not a shame to grow old and quit in a US/Arab Gulf/Japan league...
