FC Dallas face competition from Holland for Edgar Davids as AZ Alkmaar are also interested in signing him.

He would be the makeweight in a deal which would also see Spurs hand over around £3.5m in return for right-back Kew Jaliens and left-back Tim de Cler.

De Cler is a product of Ajax's famous youth policy and once had a trial with West Brom before making his name with his current club. He could take over at left-back from Young-Pyo Lee and Benoit Assou-Ekotto, who are not quite up to the Premiership grade.

Jaliens is seen as ideal cover for Pascal Chimbonda and his arrival would mean Paul Stalteri is heading for the White Hart Lane exit.

    Jaliens...
    30 year old right back

    De Cler...
    29 year old left back

surely we're looking for someone younger to replace Stalteri, what's the use here? he'll need time to adjust and by then could be looking at retirement already.

and as for the left side. i'd rather we stick with Lee than get another stop gap-er. we should spend more on quality for the left side since our LM likes to drift.

    ...i smell :bs:

The Mail seem to be churning out more garbage than all the other papers put together at the moment. Chumps.

What a ridiculous statement. How can you say that about a kid of A-E's age who's only just settling into a new league?

And sure, maybe Lee isn't top four class but to say he isn't premiership class is completely over the top.

Actually they are both 28 Jaliens born 15/09/78....
    and De Cler born 8/11/78

I think is more credible than people seem to think, both Dutch internationals, both in their prime.

Davids to go the other way makes sense as well!

Guys, this story is a hoax from GG apparently.

Tim De Cler: a 28 year-old left-back who has played well in the Dutch League in a club that has won the championship once, back in 1981. Formerly played for a bigger club. Failed to get a contract after having a trial in England. 7 international appearances.

Lee Young-Pyo: a 29 year-old left-back who has played well in the Dutch League in a club that has won the championship 6 times during the last 10 years, including 2 of the 3 years the player spent at the club. Got high acclaim for his performances from one of the most highly regarded football managers in the world. Has had an upward trend in his career, always moving to a bigger league and a bigger club. Got a contract from an English club without a trial. 93 international appearances.

I don't know about the rest of you, but based on those facts I wouldn't necessarily automatically assume that the former one "could take over at left-back" from the latter one, because the latter one is "not quite up to the Premiership grade".

if this is true, i think it makes alot of sence for both parties - plus it is unlikely that edgar will leave for a nobody team, whereas AZ have been playing well, and are in the UEFA cup - he also might fancy a return to holland?

Well, since I heard Steve Morrow's interview with my own ears and this story has no quotes and is talking about players who are worse than the ones we already have, I know who I'd rather believe.

Anyone seen the trashy rumour that Chelsea want to swap mourinho for jol? FansFC so obviously utter utter nonsense...but would any of u guys be in favour of this?
  10. adoss
LOL, perhaps these guys will come in to provide cover for our extended cup runs and give their experience to our very young squad, but there's no way they're "replacing" any of our first team at the moment.

Also, why all the hate as rehards Mr B A-E? When I saw him (and that was almost every match he's played in for us) he's looked atleast as good as Lee Y-P. He had a bad game at the Gooner's (do we have a good slang for their new stadium yet??) and then all this hating. Give him another six months to a year and I can see him being one of the best LBs in the Prem.

Remmember, patience guys. We've waited a long time for a squad this good, a little longer for some of them to progress to the next level is not too much to ask...

I think this was the same guy that wrote the Beckham/Kabbalah/hisunclesmatebirddownthepubusedtobejewish story...that was the best so far.

Why don't we start a best BS transfer story competition to get us thorugh the rest of the window?

This is not going to happen, great story, with some possibilites within it, ie Edgar going Dutch. But the players mentioned coming in, appear no better than we have. USA is favourite, if he moves at all. Good luck to him though.
