The boy looks absolute quality but i'm not sure where he fits in the club.

I really can't see us playing with 3 CBs, especially with a DM as well and certainly not regularly. £40m is a lot for a backup player to Toby and Jan. I don't think he'll expect to sit on the bench. Dier can also cover that role and he's fighting for his place with Wanyama. We may also sign another CB, Foyth.

I wonder if Levy is fearing the worst about Toby and thinks he could go? We know the rumours are that Wimmer wants to go.

Also somewhat concerned that our main target this window was a RB and it looks like we're signing 2 CBs, a 3rd choice GK and a AM.

Did you not watch us play last season?

As keeps being said...where do you suggest though?
His logic is presumably that it's pointless to strengthen the best defence in the league. The only problem is that we also scored the most goals, even though Kane was injured for two significant spells, so there's no more justification for buying a striker or AM. Maybe we shouldn't buy anyone...that would definitely go down well with us fans  It's almost like we're impossible to please.

Honestly think Sanchez has been bought to give the tree a shake and keep everyone lively and not get complacent. Also we can't rely on Verts and Toby for 60 games, both were injured last season.

But is spending 40m on a back up CB the best use of our funds surly we need players in other positions
Thankfully, we don't hold the purse strings; Poch is awesome; and when we don't appear to spend 'big' we moan. Personally, I'm kicking back and bobbing up and down on my metaphorical lilo, soaking up the unfolding joy

Yeah, most people shout 'attacker, attacker' but Jan, Toby and dier (who wants mid it seems) is much less cover for three places, than son Eriksen, alli plus others for two/three spots.

The more interesting discussion here is that if, and Sanchez and Foyth suggest this, we play more with a back 3, we arguably need a zippy, physical RB to offer an alternative to Trips. I don't think KWP is perhaps ready yet for this challenge and will need more experience. If that is the case, then we keep might well see some movement in this area soon

Looks like Wimmer may be on his way out (for more game time) and Poch has previously indicated that CCV probably isn't ready yet. Also, every time Dier made a mistake at RCB last season, people were saying he's our weak link and needs to be upgraded.

Eriksen, Alli, Son, Lamela, Sissoko, Nkoudou for two places...potentially Barkley to add into the mix too, in which case surely we'd need to offload someone?

Wonder whether Sanchez is seen as the zippy back player; esp as walkers gone. Toby/Jan and Davies are sedantry by comparison

Agree but that's different to someone calling Sanchez a panic buy to appease the fans when there are 2 weeks left of the window. They're basically saying Sanchez is Rasiak. They have no idea about young European talent. And there are 2 weeks left, not only does that rule out the fact they think it's a panic buy (even the 2 week thing aside, a panic buy would be if we had no defenders so bought one for over the odds just to have one - we have the best defence in the league!) but we have more than enough time to buy in the positions we do need to strengthen.

Basically, that conversation may have had a point if it was August 30th and we had signed Craig Dawson, not August 19th when we've signed one of the best young defenders in Europe. As it was, it was shambolic tv.

Totally agree they don't understand. Just saying some of our fans don't get it either.

Also gives us a backup for Dier at RCB (Poch doesn't seem to think CCV is ready quite yet and Wimmer plays LCB plus apparently wants to leave). This in turn makes it easier for Poch to use Dier as cover for Wanyama.

Sanchez will put pressure on starters.

After all, all the expert pundits (including Rose) keep telling us we need players to keep current 11 on toes...

Will be interesting to see if when we play a back three Sanchez or Dier play (I'd imagine Sanchez in middle in sweeper-like role in a man-love sandwich between the two Belgium boys).

I would think he'd go on the right side to add that recovery pace behind Trippier when he's caught high up the pitch.

Finally genuine competition for places. With my 24 man squad if everyone is fully fit there will be 1 senior outfield player not in the match day squad. That is what you need as I'm not sure we will ever have a fully fit squad so the bench will always look strong

I would say RW is a position we are weak in and if Rose goes LW also.
