Can see why the ref didn't give it. If you watch the ball Bernadeschi gets his foot to it to knock it away from McClean. He does shove him at the same time, so it's a tough call. I am biased though, so....

With regards to the wrestling in the box. I get that people get the arse ache over the way our defenders wrestle players during dead ball situations. I've touched on this behaviour before. In Italy it's very much part and parcel of the game. Both sides do it, it's expected, and the refs often let it slide.
It's not an excuse, it's a dirty tactic of course. People need to question the refs on these decisions. In Italy the refs let it slide, as I said, but in European competitions the refs need to stop our players from doing it by setting examples. They don't though. So our boys like Bonucci and Chiellini will continue to do so as the message they're getting from the officials is that you can get away with it. I'm not going to complain as we're getting away with it, but I can see the Irish frustrations.
