I think those valuations seem fair enough on average, given what players are going for nowadays.

Onomah has apparently impressed at several severals for England including in the U20s world cup win,

Given the current market we'd get a good fee for him. I'd hope we can try to implement him into the squad as a centralmidfielder though.

I believe the footballing definition of deadwood are players who play no part. Due to this Sissoko and Llorente aren't deadwood, just not good enough or right for us.

We could sell CCV, Janssen and N'Koudou and have no impact on the team or squad.

We need to free up a few squad places so should have some money to spend in the summer.

Regardless of the Preston comparison, it’s a different scenario, inflated January prices and buying an important member of the team always adds on money. The difference is, as it seems currently Onomah is surplus to requirements here, can’t see the kid fetching anything more than £6m-£8m at this point in time. Could be wrong. As could you.
Tom Carroll went for £8m before prices went up about 30%. And can’t believe that Onomah is rated worse than tom Carroll both have similar number of spurs appearances. So even with inflation and being a better player would take Onomah close to £15m

Janssen nearly went to Brighton on deadline day for £23m can’t actually remember why he didn’t think he decided to stay. Nkoudou was always going to get another season. Sissoko is an anomaly.
It was a loan move to Brighton

What are you basing Onomah being better than Tom Carroll on?

We'll agree to disagree on that one then, I cant see anything but Spurs-tinted glasses and I'm sure you cant see anything from my side apart from pessimism/not rating Onomah.

Now January is over and thinking about summer amazes me we could probably raise near on £100m in what I personally see as dead wood. Squad and moneyball wise we are in a fantastic position considering we need so little in summer maybe 3 at most. CM 2nd striker and another AM if being greedy. So here is my OUT list sure many will disagree.

Janssen £20m- clearly no future
Nkoudou £10m-as above
Llorente £10m- pretty sure will look to upgrade.
Sissoko £20m- Poch seems to love but feeling he will go.
Onomah £15m (could well be more)- hard to see a pathway with new CM winks ahead dembele one more year. Many will disagree but feel we may cash in.
Ccv £8m- Again hard to see a pathway.
Various youth players £5-10m - quite a few now on loan that I’m sure will be sold.

Sure I’ve forgotten a few. Other possibles maybe Trippier rose Lamela. With a bit of Levy magic should leave us close to £100m and a very healthy pot to play with only 2 or 3 needed. As said all round the moneyball situation is fantastic.

You've been drinking if you think we'll get 20m for Janssen. We payed less than that for him when he'd been banging them in in the Eredivisie, so now that he's come to us and been rubbish, how would that make his value go up?

Also Sissoko, as much as some people think he's improved, is still not going to get us 20m quid unless we can find someone really stupid. Maybe we should give Sullivan a call, then you might be right.

But if we were buying Janssen now with his record in the Dutch league. We would have to pay closer to £30m. As said still no 9 for Holland only 23. If you said he was now worth £20m basically you’re saying his value has depreciated around 30%. So going back to his original cost he would be about £13m in your opinion. But you guys just aren’t factoring in the rise in the market.

The talk of transfer fees is always hard to determine anyway.

If a wealthy club is interested in Janssen then we can get a good fee for him. If the only interest is from abroad with poorer countries then the fee dramatically reduces.

Anyways my numbers aren’t dramatically out even if we get £15m for him. The whole point of this thread was to show what a great position we are in with a fantastic squad assembled . And maybe only 2 or 3 positions to fill. And with an unwanted players kitty of somewhere between £70-90m. Compared to say Arsenal moneyball which is pretty terrible. They’ve had to sell 4 players to get 2 in. And 3 of those 4 were their top scorers last season. Plus the two they’ve got in are 28 and 29 and most likely have no resale value. Plus they have a host of other aging and injury ridden players added to they are already miles behind squad wise.

Do you think Onomah is worth less than Pritchard who went for £12m. Onomah has played 40 times for us and a member of the U20 winning time. He is definitely worth more than Pritchard.
No comparison between the two. Pritchard was voted championship player of the year at Brentford not long ago. He can score goals . Onomah has basically done nothing. Forget about the under 20 World Cup , means nothing. Onomah has to show something on loan. It’s ok saying others who had poor loans became first team players, but in those days we were nowhere near the level we are now. Central midfield is an important position and he is nowhere near good enough as yet.

is that you Daniel
mate we arent getting those prices, and if we let some of those go then we would have to pay them up as well, Janssen maybe 10-12m, Sissoko 15m maybe, CCV would be maybe 3-4 with add ons, Josh maybe 7-8m with add ons

Huh? You’re saying every play you sell you have to pay up their contract ? How can that possibly be correct,you’d end up making nothing off every sale.

Think your talking about signing on bonus which is split over the contract and nothing like those figures. You’re quoting wages which obviously you don’t pay if you’re selling the player.

Let's all pray that Sissoko is one of the stars of the World Cup - and yes, it could certainly happen. That's the only way we'll get decent money for him.

Janssen - We will get 10m at best;
Sissoko - He isnt deadwood. He covers both CM and AM and this season he has been an important squad player given the injuries to Wanyama, Winks, Lamela;
Llorente - Not sure there is a market given his age and lack of form. Chelsea interest is gone after signing Giroud and Conte unlikely to be there next season;
Onomah - Probably worth half what you are quoting. Hasnt impressed at Aston Villa and other similar spurs youth players that we sent on loan (like Carroll, Mason) made more of an impact;
CCV - No championship side is going to pay 8m for him. That is his standard. Your looking at 2m at best.

Ccv £2m lol. Go check out the average championship transfers. Very average players going for £5-10m, Fletcher came straight out of united academy to West Ham played about 10 games and went for £7m. And as for Janssen , Assombalonga went for £17m last summer. Revisit this in summer pretty confident my estimates will be spot on.
