A loan move to Sunderland was the making of Danny Rose so I can't see any reason why the same can't happen with Yedlin.

The one thing that has impressed me about him (aside his speed) is his understanding of how you need to work and fight for every opportunity (can't remember the interview but he struck me as somebody who was prepared to graft rather than the over privelidged UK based young players you generally see).

I think regular Premiership action will give him a harder edge and understanding of what it takes to be a defender in the premier league. Really hope this works out for him, would love to see us turn a young prospect into a global star rather than continually being a club with a reputation for destroying young talent.

You keep saying that...but I don't think you understand what "commercial reasons" means.

There is no commercial benefit if he never plays.

I don't know if it would be anything substantial, but there would still be some benefit if he never plays. I'm sure many MLS and US soccer fans first learned about Tottenham when Yedlin, a popular player, was sold to them. Who knows if that's worth the transfer fee and wages, but there is "some" benefit.

I think Frediel would have done that already, then Dempsey..

He will never play for us that much is obvious, a player bought purely for commercial reasons.
I hope not. I think we saw a raw player, with pace, who had huge potential and didn't cost the earth. Sunderland may be make or break for him. If he can hold down a first team place, maybe there's a role for him next season, IF not then I doubt we'll see any more of him.

I remember saying the same when we signed him when others were assuming he was going straight into the first team.
He is only 21 and from a completely different league. He has the raw attributes and now needs coaching and training to make him a better player. It took Danny rose a couple of seasons to get up to scratch... it may take him more than a season but he seems to have the right attitude and application so we just have to be patient... hence why we purchased trippier...
