Jermain Defoe believes Tottenham's fans have played an important role in the club's impressive run of victories at White Hart Lane.

Defeating Aston Villa on Boxing Day took Spurs' streak of consecutive home wins to 12, with Defoe scoring twice to take his tally to 50 for the club.

Even the 24-year-old's England team-mates have noticed the atmosphere created at the ground, and Spurs' home form has kept them involved in four fronts heading into 2007.

'It's credit to the fans, they get behind us and everyone is buzzing at the minute,' said Defoe. 'We just want to keep it going.

'I love playing here. When I go away with England and speak to the other lads, for some reason a lot of the lads like playing here.'

Spurs are in the last four of the Carling Cup, the knockout stages of the UEFA Cup and still in the hunt for European place in the Barclays Premiership, despite only winning once away from home in the league. Their FA Cup campaign starts against Cardiff in January.

Martin Jol's men have defeated Chelsea at home this season and facing Liverpool tomorrow will be another test of their record at White Hart Lane.

Defoe, however, is full of confidence after a goalscoring run in the starting XI and a blossoming partnership with Dimitar Berbatov.

'I think Liverpool will be a good test of how far we've come,' said Defoe.

'Everyone is looking forward to it, if we keep playing the way we're playing who knows what's going to happen.'

Berbatov set up both of Defoe's goals against Villa, and the £10.9million summer signing from Bayer Leverkusen has reached double figures himself this season.

'Berba's a great player, I've said that from day one in pre-season,' said Defoe. 'His movement is good and his all-round game is really good. I'm really enjoying playing with him.

'I think we've got an understanding now and it just keeps getting better. Obviously, the more we play together the more it will get better.'

yeah, pistolP it doesnt matter who is settin up who as long as we score the goals and as a striker it is good to be gready and have an eye for goal everytime you get the ball.

I believe Berb has 10 goals this season. Not much between them really.
