    SPURS NEWS:

Jermain Defoe is confident that he is the man to fire Tottenham to silverware having revelled in the absence of Robbie Keane.

England international Defoe has all too often cut a frustrated figure on Spurs' bench over the past few seasons but Keane's absence with a knee injury has opened the door for the diminutive striker.

Defoe was on target twice on Thursday as Tottenham secured qualification to the last 32 of the Uefa Cup, with a 3-1 defeat of Dinamo Bucharest, and in recent weeks has looked close to capturing his best form.

Having netted eight times in his last seven starts Defoe is confident his goals can help Tottenham to their first trophy since 1999.

"It's great. I said to the boys I feel really sharp now," he said.

"When you get a run of games you feel sharper and fitter; I feel really fit, so I'm enjoying it.

"You speak to any striker; when you score you just want to feature in the next game and get a rhythm. I think I'm getting my rhythm.

"I believe when I play games and feel sharp I will score goals. At the minute they are going in, luck is on my side - and it's good.

"If we could go all the way it would be great for everyone at the club and the fans - it's been a long time.

"It would be my first medal - and winning things is what it's all about. If we can do that this year it would be great."

Nice to hear this from our player, that they wanted to win,win and win medal this year. Being a die hard fan all these years, I'm feeling real positive that the progress have been made for the last twelve months. Regardless what the outcome comes end of the season, I'm sure all the fan will still behind the team. Being a Spurs fan is hard, I know, trust me. I have been surrounded by ManU , Gunner's, Pool's fans during my School's days, Army's days and now working life. But as long as we continue our progress, we have nothing to be ashame being fan of Tottenham .
Comon you spurs !!!!   :) :) :)

As long as he keeps soring ~I would have to agree with you. The thing about it is that Robbies strong quality (that he makes a great sub) actually works against him because Defoe is only good when he is starting and on form. Defoe is useless as a sub and cannot change games very often at all.
