@heelspurs your thoughts please.
My overall position still hasn't changed and probably won't just because he scored a goal tonight on the 2nd time of asking (when Sissoko was pilloried in the burnley game for similar). Alli's overall game is lacking but he has picked up his application in the last 3 games and I have given him credit in the match threads either by comment or by rating.

Still believe he should have been benched and still believe that we should recruit competition for his position. No one with such a poor overall game should be so comfortable getting in the side. But I will continue to support his improvement while he is in the side. However, I won't be baking cakes and having parties because he has finally begun to actually do his job at the minimally acceptable level.

I wonder how many 21 year olds having a bad season produce better than 1 in 2 goal involvements per game. 19 starts, on sub appearance, 5 goals, 6 assists. I’d be shocked if he didn’t end the season with double figures for both.

His season will end up going just like last year. That's two games in a row scored in, fully expect a massive run of goals over next few months. He's 21 and there's zero patience with him from so many fans.
It'll go from him being aparently limited, heads not at Spurs, doing too much commercial stuff and not focusing on his football, we should cash in while we've got the chance to fans worrying about losing him and praying he extends his contract.

Why should we expect loyalty from players when so many fans are so pathetic in their lack of patience and understanding that he's still learning his trade and maybe seeing as he's a kid still might take a little while to get going each season right now. The horror.

For all the criticism he's now up to 9 goals and 8 assists in all comps. A strange, but utterly incredible footballer.

Love him or get frustrated by him, you can't deny that he gets shit done and more often than not contributes match defining, match winning moments.

Just not doing them consistently over the long season gets people twitching easily. But on cumulative measure, hell great returns so far!

Expectations.

Dele is mustard, iv said it before and I will say it again we will miss him when he's gone.

I just hope if he does pick up to his form of the last couple seasons that the posters who have been on his back a bit don't slag him off just to prove their point, we are all Spurs here and we all want the same thing and a firing Dele can only be a good thing for us. That's not to say any player is beyond reproach but sometimes I feel that some posters say things when emotions are high and then want to stick to their guns which makes threads toxic after a while (see Lamela thread from a while back)

Predictably those who were involved in the over the top moaning about him are now looking pretty stupid.

Those who wanted him sold even more so.

I hope we are starting to see improvement from him in his overall game now. If he goes up to the next level I think he will become the best midfield player in the world.

As long as he doesn’t read any forums Delli will think our fans love him as the attending fans - especially the excellent away fans always back him

It’s the keyboard warriors that probably jumped on the bandwagon in the last couple of years that give him the hardest time

Rightly so. I hope that we do go big and make a statement this summer and not just by signing a superstar, by proving to the players we have that we mean business.

It doesn't even make financial sense to allow the likes of Eriksen, Son, Toby, Kane, Alli, Rose etc to remain on inferior contracts to which they would be worth. Say we sold them, we would rightly earn a fortune, but to replace like for like would not only cost a fortune but also potentially set us back years and years.

Most talented group we've had in God knows how long. Let's not piss it away by not playing the game.

For what it's worth, anyone going overboard on the criticism of Alli is genuinely no better than any of those mouth breathers on AFTV. For how young the guy is, the numbers he's putting up are insane. If he were at United/City etc we'd all be bashing one out at the thought of ever signing him.

There's a reason he's one of the most sought after young players in that world. Wish some would wake up and appreciate that. Every player has a dip in form but class is permanent
