Of course Dele’s hurt now. Why would we get through an int’l break unscathed when we already have Kane out?:mad:

I believe he got the knock before the Swansea game, where he still made a brief cameo, as he did in the Netherlands game. I expect he'll play vs Chelsea and it's just been precautionary.

Would prefer if neither Dele or Kane went to Russia at all as they will be the scapegoat's when England embarrassingly limp out again, now that Rooney retired.

They both will though, and they'll both start.

I've got a lot more faith in Kane than I ever had in Rooney. He's more likely to score a couple than be blamed for our failure in my opinion.

Exactly. I don't know why Southgate's getting stick for not playing him.

Because a lot of football fans are idiots?
To be fair, his injury became known to most only after the event. So questioning his non selection at the time was quite reasonable for those who thought he merited to be selected to start one of the games.

Cannot believe Southgate called Alli up and then kept him in the squad when he knew had an injury and wasn’t able to complete training! Surely giving him a couple of weeks rest and to spend with our medical team would have been better rather than have him part completing training and playing 15 minutes or so for two pointless friendlies! Another example of our players being misused by England couldn’t imagine this happening to Man Utd players!

Presumably wanted him around the squad to learn the system etc.

Did i say he was ahead of him? Read my post again, and you will see that i positioned it as a hypothetical. As the basic truth is, he hasn't been consistently in form this season. Hence, why i was simply pondering out loud a "what if" scenario.

Chill out :) i just want to get my GBH joke in.

Actually had to check that stat about 3 times lol.

People comparing them because lingard has scored a few more tap ins this season are idiots

Dele literally has only scored three less goals and got DOUBLE the assists lingard has and this is Lingards best season and dele's worst (by his standards)

Shows how much impact a bad media narrative really does have on things that it's now an acceptable opinion to rate that cringey fucker over delboy. Imagine actually, unironically thinking the person who sent this tweet deserves to play for England

It’s pathetic this is purely based on goals scored. I’d say at start of season 10 PL goals should be dele target anymore a bonus. Yes 6 isn’t great. But then he has 10 assists which is more than his first 2 seasons and still 8 games left.

Just don't understand it, lingard is decent but Dele is special there is no comparison apart from the fact they play in the same position.

Just look at is stats alone and he beasts every young midfielder in the world. This doesn't include his workrate and his off the ball activities which is pretty much non existent with lingard.

I know his attempted flicks, dives and nutmegs pisses people off but he is proper class. Every club in the world would have him in their side.

England is a no brainier.

The papers have got it in for him today ignoring southgate’s words about him being not fully fit. As I predicted 6 months ago, they’re desperate to make him this tournament’s scapegoat.

Sterling has spoken this week of what it did to him mentally so I hope Dele is ready for it because it will happen.

I get frustrated with Alli sometimes, but the guy is potentially world class. Probably the only other player in the squad that you could argue that about is Kane. Maybe at a stretch Sterling, if he keeps improving under Pep.

There is absolutely no doubt he will go to Russia and start if fit. Lingard is in decent form and Southgate obviously likes him but there is absolutely no way you could make a case for starting him ahead of Alli.

Journalists are like Chelsea fans, i’ve genuinely never met a nice one. Unfortunately because of the way Alli plays the game and carries himself he will always be a target for the press and opposition fans. That’s fine though. It’s part of what makes him great and something we at spurs have always lacked in recent times.

Southgate said it before the Italy match but people like to make up their own shit which suits their agenda and go off on a tangent especially when it comes to Southgate.
