He's gotten so much better this season of staying involved in games. In the past he would drift in and out of games and go anonymous quite often. That hasn't been the case this season.

Maturing- he’s always had football intelligence, now he’s using it more thoughtfully

He started off playing as striker or number 10 when he broke into the United team. I still remember the Champ Manager where I picked him up as Wrexham as a FC and he scored 78 goals in a season.

Yep. Before becoming a ginger wrecking machine that tackled with the finesse of Vinny Jones on 2 bottles of Tequila.

You guys realise that he's been playing as a forward for the majority of those games and those players had been playing as CMF's

I'm sure Paul Scholes played just behind the main striker for United earlier on in his career before moving to CMF.

So did Scholes and Lampard played as an AM, so just as much expected from a goals and assists output.

It’s going to be interesting to see if he can keep up his 10 + goals a season now that he’s changed his game. I think he will.

Stats can never capture a player's worth like Scholes. I don't see any stats for assists for assists for goals. He'd do that so many times, 'cause he knew exactly how much time and space he had when in possession, could see everything ahead of him in the park, and would deliver passes that would cut through defences at exactly the right moment.

More often than not, he'd pick out a runner in space in a threatening position, thread the pass, so the runner himself may score himself, or pass to someone in a better scoring position.

That was later on in his career not when he was 22.
