If you are Barca and just got ~£200m from selling a single player then calling anyone in the PL about a star player isn't a great tactic.

ALL the PL teams now have massive revenue streams all can afford to hold out for a king's ransom on any player that they aren't actively looking to sell.

Good chance that someone like Levy would ask them how badly that £200m was burning a hole in their pocket to open negotiations. Figure Pool are doing the same with Couthinho.
Probably why they'll go shopping in Germany.

I really don't think he'd have a choice. He's building a new stadium and trying to fill it up with fans. Losing a marquee star like Dele is not the same thing as losing Kyle Walker.

I don't believe that we will sell anymore first team players this summer. Selling Deli or any other important starting eleven member would only disrupt the harmony and understanding between the players.

My point was that levy would not splash the full load of any outgoings on another replacement player.

I think they'll get Aguero, even though he isn't a youngster.

This is probably true if Messi has a say in it. He has his favourites and if he doesn't like someone, they won't play for Argentina (Tevez as the example)

If he has that sort of power at Barca he could probably pick who he wants.

While I agree he won't go this window keeping an unhappy player has more of an effect on the other players than selling him, no matter how good he is

Regardless of what levy and Co say, if barca are willing to spend circa £100m on him, he's gone
As much as it pains me to say that EVERYONE has a price and we should remember this over the next 3 weeks.
Maybe it will work in our favour, maybe not.
But in these crazy times of OTT fees, we could well receive a bid too big to turn down.

Agree see Neymar to PSG for those that disagree. Every club is now a selling club.

Whilst Levy is a mastermind at haggling a bargain transfer deal for an incoming player he is also truly gifted in acquiring massive fees for outward bound ones...(Bale is a perfect example). Should Barcelona come calling then I am certain his valuation for Alli will be astronomical and prove a real wake up call for the Spanish side. If this story does develop (and I sincerely hope nothing comes of it) then time will be running out as regards replacement negotiations and the last thing we need is another Sissoko knee jerk reaction. Let's hope it's more speculation than anything else...fingers crossed.

In the sense that we would have had a better team had we kept the player, rather than sold and used the money to sign new players. Also it's completely possible to keep a player who wants to leave but is on a long term contract. Modric wanted to leave but we kept him for a season. Then we sold him for 30 million or something, but again the players who replaced him weren't the same quality.

So to me, selling a world class player is never worth it, plus when you look back a few years later the amount paid always looks like too little because of transfer fee inflation.

If you think there was any way we could have kept Bale or Modric (after he gave us one more season) you are seriously deluded. The power is with the player - especially when it is either Real or Barca who come calling.

Christ, a lot of people seemingly forgotten (or have chosen not to remember) the state of football right now.

If the offer is big enough, Alli will go. I'm not saying he will, it's a hypothetical but don't be so naive to think levy wouldn't entertain it

No way in a million years Levy would let him go for 100m. 170m....perhaps.

You're probably right, £100m as crazy as it sounds was probably still a little low considering Levy's negotiation skill. The point still stands though. If they went him enough, they'll get him.

The story is an easy one for journos to dream up though so it's probably bollocks

I highly doubt he'll go as weren't Barca rumoured to have made a bid of circa £40m for him a few weeks ago? No way they'll double never mind treble or quadruple that offer.

A few weeks ago they didn't have 200m quid burning a hole in their pocket

Has there been any link between Barca and the player or are we just speculating and/or panicking?

lot of speculation on here but in the hypothetical if Dele goes to Barca or Madrid over the next few years it will be for more than 150 million quid....probably closer to 200 million
