He can be frustrating to watch, because a lot of the attacking flair he exhibits doesn't come to anything. He also carries himself with a nonchalant, arrogant style, which a lot of top players have done over the years

This means that fans can come away from a game with a negative opinion of Dele's performance

However, what isn't always appreciated is that his gamesmanship, aggression, flair and movement make him a nightmare to play against and it puts defences on the back-foot

His work-rate, pressing, tracking-back and tackling are all good too; another side of the game which can pass-by unnoticed

And finally, there's his age; at only 21 he's nowhere near his peak. Expect a barnstorming season or two (or three) in the near future

The only worry is a lack of focus on Dele's part; he has to keep working hard on and off the pitch, looking to perfect every aspect of his game

tbf he really improved his attitude - been a long time since he punched an opponent in the stomach or risked their lives with harsh tackles...

He's an important part in our offensive build up, involved in almost every goal - be it assist, making room trough his runs, passes or winning the ball back

Look at the two players above him on the list, Mbappe and Sane. Both are clearly dynamite and I wouldn’t argue that Dele is better than either, but the former plays for the best team by far in a one team league (every other side bar maybe Monaco would be bottom half in the Prem) and most would be relegated. Sane is far more comparable as he’s in the same league and obviously has far less English experience (albeit more top flight experience overall if you include Schalke). Maxi Gomez, Malcolm, because of the sides they play for, are the only players on that list along with Sané who you could argue are having better seasons than Dele if you’re really being objective.

And all this when Dele is apparently having a bad season.

Sane had his real breaktrough this season, mbappe is younger than both but his stats last two season are class even tough in a lower league... Dele is consistent and arguably the least offensive player in their systems of this 3.

imo Mbappe have the highest ceiling

17/18:
Sane 40 games / 12 goals / 15 assists
Dele 41 games / 10 goals / 16 assists
Mbappe 36 games / 17 goals / 14 assists

16/17:
Sane 37 games / 9 goals / 8 assists
Dele 50 games / 22 goals / 13 assists
Mbappe 44 games / 26 goals / 14 assists

15/16
Sane 42 games / 9 goals / 7 assists
Dele 46 games / 10 goals / 11 assists
Mbappe 14 games / 1 goals / 2 assists

I think i'm correct in saying he's got more goals and assists at his age than Kane managed for us by the time he was 21. Different circumstances, I know, but if he can develop in the same way as Harry then there's nothing stopping him from becoming the best player in the world IMO.

You are as predictable as a good dump. Never fail to deliver. Saying that I was expecting a "FFS" instead of "Chris on a bike"

Sane (My opinion)

Nice rebuttal, tells me you're unable to follow up on your initial post because it was full of crap :D

Love that boy.
The one player above all the others
including Harry and Christian
that I look forward to watching.
Exciting, wasteful, clever, silly, brilliant, hopeless.
He's the complete package.

I think this thread would read a little differently if this was Klopp talking about Dele and he was a Liverpool player with those stats.

I urge people to look beyond the stats and see the steady improvement in his overall game this season. I think he is beginning to make progress but it's not been all plain sailing.

I don't think he is far away from an uber season. It could even be next season.

Who should win young player of the year award this season could well deserve the answer Sane, he has been absolutely flying however, is he as good as Dele was in his breakout season in the prem? I don't think so, and Dele came from the third division. I'm a fan but let's see how Sane does over the next couple of years.

At twenty one other teams are playing Dele like he's a mature player at his peak, this season has been invaluable for him, a real learning curve and like you I am looking forward to seeing him next season.

You say ignore the stats and yet only De Bruyne and Sane have more assists in the PL than Dele this year.

I think he's slightly changed his game (ans is still in the process of doing so) and while his quick flicks and touches don't always come off they do often help us open up the opposition.

His through balls have jumped up a few levels this year too. He's played some sublime passes recently.

The goals will come again, and even then he's not miles off players of his 'type'.

Stats are misleading. At one point Andy Cole had the highest number of assists in the premier league era.

It's actually Deles all round game that makes him so good, he makes an awful lot of the game look effortless. It's when he tried the showboaty stuff that it looks bad, as he's not actually a Zidane, and more a box to box player. Like Jenas, only really good.

His potential has no ceiling if you ask me.

He’s clearly one of the best young players in the game at the moment, so the statement isn’t ludicrous.

I’d much rather have our manager coming out with stuff like this than a Mourinho type putting them down to make himself seem like less of a failure.
