Love how the initial reaction to losing one of our best players for a month isn’t ‘fuck, we need him’ but instead ‘yay, a new stick with which to beat the chairman’.

We have Dele, Eriksen, Son, Lucas and Lamela competing for three positions. Who the fuck should we have signed to improve on that exactly?
Plus Sissoko! (Whether or not people rate him, Poch does play him there).

Apparently, we should have signed at least 2 of Shaqiri, Zaha and Martial, without selling anyone. 8 or 9 players competing for 3 positions (or 2 in some matches), is obviously logical.

Alli and Eriksen out injured, but Lamela (who is in good form) was an unused sub today, and we won 2-0 away from home. Clearly that proves we lack attacking players.

Poch confirms he is out for Barca and doesn’t look happy about our injuries and the Nations Cup
He is not wrong about starting the Nation's League so soon after the World Cup, and national teams continuing to play the same players.

That is not a good decision by UEFA, and then the National teams.

His remarks are smart and sensible and pointed out that a lot of the silly remarks about rotation etc from some journos and fans are not based in an understanding of where the players are post WC

Fail to see how the Nations League has anything whatsoever to do with it. The slot would normally have been used for qualifiers instead. The problem is in our case mostly poor luck with so many of our players playing so much so deep into the World Cup. Organisationally, it's got to be on the English authorities scheduling the Premier League to start so soon after the end of the tournament. An extra week would've made a big difference, two weeks would've been ideal. But instead we continue to have the most crowded domestic schedule of all major leagues, with 20 teams rather than 18, a primary cup with replays, and a secondary cup tournament too.

I think the primary point was not a knock on the Nation's League specifically, but on the decision to have any non-friendly so soon after the WC.

As Poch likes to say, players are not machines. They take 3 weeks off after the WC, but then they have to be up-to-speed immediately for their clubs. That first international break comes so soon, and its the perfect time for those players to have a bit of rest after ramping up so quickly.

So, if you make that first break a friendly then the National Team coaches won't have the pressure of bringing in over-worked players, and can bring in some fresh faces.

Collectively the clubs and National teams are not managing the players well.

Ffs we are having no luck. If Eriksen, Verts and Lloris are missing for Wednesday as well I predict a horror score.

I'd say its less likely - first, our tactics will be more conservative - conceding possession, playing defense, and looking to hit on the counter.

Second, Barça are struggling a bit in the league right now - they won't want to waste energy running up a score in a mid-week match. If they get ahead, I think they will be comfortable slowing the match down.

Having seen our possible fixture list all I can say is that there are too many international fixtures during the normal season .
Either cut down the number of England games or play them at the end of the season. We get players like Dele come back injured from international duty and this in a roundabout way has led to his problems now and this 4 games in eight days is an absolute joke it is this kind of fixture chaos cost us the league twice in the sixties .Its not going to cost us the league but could cost us champions league qualification.God I hate international football and how it causes such problems for clubs like us but it would help if we could be like Arsenal and only play lower league clubs in cups I.E.us verse's West Ham /gooners verse's Blackpool it seems to happen every year almost make you think the draw was fixed and I am not joking

Every set/back for one person
is an opportunity for another.
Remember Winks v Real Madrid.
Lloris/ Vorm/ Gazzaniga.
Time for Sissoko to prove us all wrong.

Sissoko will not start, he'll be on the bench. We have better options but he is a good player off the bench especially on the Wembley pitch. We either go 3 at the back like we did in the group stage last season or we stick to 4. Either way Winks or Dembele (if fit), Wanyama or Dier (or both if Dier starts at the back), 3 of Moura, Son, Eriksen (if fit), Lamela behind Kane.

As far as international football goes I kind of wish they would just split the season in 2 halfs with international break midway. In January have a league break and do a Nations League etc split in half, for example Europe/South America matches the first half of the month, Asia/Africa the second half of the month. That way there's a 2 week break similar to the winter break for those international players. Resume the season in February. That way there's no international interfering with the league. You also have the January window where there's at least 2 weeks to get deals for international players done, and a month for non internationals.
