I have watched him closely for a yr. Never once did I see anything that could persuade me to think that he is worth buying. Mid table player at best.I don't wanna see us buy someone else's crap

I might have actually discussed this with you right up until you dropped this clanger :banghead:

Let's just agree to disagree instead.

Spurs fans: we want a pacey wideman

We get linked to Gray

Spurs fans: not that one!

:banghead:

This joke is so fucking funny. Hilarious each of the 50 other times some witless wonder has made it.

We obviously don't just want "a pacy wideman" - we want one that can actually play football.

I get why many rate him.
Pacy, decent tecnique, and a good right foot.
But never moves intelligently into good positions, bases his game on hopeful crosses and long shots and is less productive than both N'jie and Nkoudou were in France.

It'll be interesting to see what becomes of him under Poch if this happens.

It's the least funny joke going on here and its blantly obvious we don't want just anyone so I think people must be acting deliberately thick.

USAIN BOLT HAS PACE. SIGN HIM UP (probably get hijacked by Utd though).

Is it so much to ask for a player with a better return than one goal in 45 matches? Gray had a proven track record of having no end product.

The guy quite clearly can play football, and he offers use some different to what we have, he just happens to be very raw still as, guess what, HE'S JUST TURNED 21!!!

At that age do you know who had just three Spurs league goals and was thought by most to be a slow donkey... you got it, Harry Fucking Kane. I don't know about you two I've quoted, but most of him thought he was useless and look how that turned out.

Snobs the fucking lot of you.

I'm all for this signing, getting in potential and moulding it is exactly what we've had success with. Paying inflated fees so supposed proven talent usually explodes in our faces.

He is slow as hell. Do any of you actually watch football? People in England are easily fooled. I mean David Beckham is seen as some sort of legend. And he was nowhere near being top notch. Just a marketing machine. The hype that some players get is unreal. Rooney another example. Way overrated. Could only dream of being world class. And now people are saying a kid that can't get into a team that we thrashed 7-1 should be snapped up? Oh my god

Kane may have only had three goals for us at age 21 but also hadn't made 45 appearances. Gray has had plenty of opportunities at Leicester, even if as a substitute, and remains sat on the bench and available for a transfer for good reason.

45 matches? He was used as a late sub in like 35 PL matches last season. He probably averaged less than 30 mins in each match.

Look, he wouldn't be my first choice for a pacey wide attacker either, and definitely not for 30 million, but it's really unfair the criticism he's getting on here. He barely got any chances last season but everytime I watched a Leicester game and he came on, he made something happen IMO. His crossing is good, he has a good shot, has good pace, can beat a man, just needs more game time to improve. For his own sake though, he should go to a midtable club to get that playing time.

Only utter twerps thought Kane looked useless, he was incredibly highly rated in our youth system. So, you oppose paying inflated fees for "supposed proven talent" but you're happy for us to pay massively inflated fees for unproven talent - makes perfect sense that.

I'm not a snob, I'm just a far better judge of player than every other person on the planet.

I thought Kane was a donkey when I first saw him play for us. But not one person on the face of the earth foresaw what he would become. I don't think he's an appropriate benchmark here.

45 appearances if you insist on being pedantic. And one would expect that a pace merchant who "has a good shot" would have scored more than a single solitary goal running at tired legs for 30 minutes over and over and over again. Njie racked up a dramatically better return in his breakthrough season in France doing exactly that.

I'm not saying he is bereft of potential, I'm just saying he is cut from precisely the same cloth as Njie and Nkoudou and is not at all the player we need right now.

Exactly. This isn't Sancho at 3/4mil, this is 30 mil for an unproven player.

Not worth it...Townsend was far better.

Also I feel we need a left footed Mahrez type player.

Well I actually watched a lot of their matches last season, instead of just looking at stats. He was unlucky not to have more goals and assists really. The level of football in France is not the same as the PL so that comparison isn't fair IMHO.

I agree with you that we need someone better right now though.

Your reasoning basically concludes every promising youngster with a poor end product is the next Harry Kane.

Obvious argument has obvious flaws.

Watched his 'highlights' reel... hugely underwhelmed. Wouldn't offer anything we haven't already got from Nkoudou.

No, my reasoning concludes that if our management identify the necessary potential in a player, we should shut the fuck up and trust them!
