It's fascinating to see the development of our team. The collective mentality is the foundation of our success to date and Poch has shown a ruthless streak in dealing with anybody who undermines that. Young players know they'll get their chance if they do the groundwork and we have improved every season since Pochettino took charge.

I must admit, I get a bit jumpy when I see our rivals spending big but I think big signings are a double edged sword which can equally undermine the collective mentality. I don't know if KWP can step up and support Trippier and I don't know if Josh Onomah has what it takes to move up to the level required, but I don't watch them every day. In fact, I've hardly seen them at all. If Poch says he's calm and confident, I'm inclined to trust his judgement. I wasn't at all confident when we didn't sign a defensive midfielder and Poch said Dier was the man - what did I know? As I've just posted in another thread, I don't think Ibrahimovich, Pogba and Mkhitaryan improved Utd. to any great degree last season. They may have got them over the line in the EL, but other than that the team weren't up to much and they've shelled out again this summer.

Is the club going to make every single first teamer come out with this same sentiment? It's like its on a PR offensive to placate the fans and prepare us for the fact that no signings are going to be made.

Alternatively, they could all just believe it. We do have a pretty good team.

I am inclined to believe it. In fact if I see my club who say they run a tight ship so financially can't pay the very highest wages but go out and buy the likes of Sissoko, Janssen and waste millions I might be a little peeved. If you have a team who have bought into a philosophy and a plan then perhaps you better stick to it or risk looking discontent

I think Poch believes he has a squad capable of not only holding thier own in the Premiership but also improving on last seasons performance. This is still a young squad, growing in confidence and experience. I am sure if he feels he needs to bolster the squad he will. We have sold approximately £70 million on players so he has cash to play with if required. I have to say our young defenders looked suspect against PSG for the two goals so I am sure this is an area that needs reinforcing in the squad.

In their defense (no pun intended), they were up against some very decent opposition. Give them a chance, they were hardly going to come out and impress first time round.

Mousa Dembele is correct in highlighting how important the close 'family' spirit of this squad being a major factor in their success, However, relying on it with our smallish squad of genuinely good first team players to bring silver ware, to me, seems a big ask. Having to cope with the EPL, EC and two other cup competitions is a massive commitment. The regular first team players, apart from having to avoid injuries and suspensions, will need resting at some time during the long season. The money clubs are filling their bench with the equivalent of first team players. They can do this by paying stupidly massive wages. In our case that is some thing that, for the moment, we cannot compete with.

I am not suggesting we will not excel this season, however, I think it will require some of the academy and bench players to really significantly improve and quickly. Hopefully Lady Luck will be a bit kinder with injuries this year and the referees do not make too many mistakes that go against us.
