Good stuff. Get that lot out the league and we'll be winning it every year!

....and end up like Celtic.

Also, it'd be the end for the CL as we know it, as these clubs wouldn't be able to qualify for anything else. Then, the top clubs in the Super League would get richer each year and the lower teams would start to suffer. Real Madrid would start winning it every year, and Olympique Marseille would lose thier best players to them and also fade in insignificance, followed by Arsenal the next year and so on and so on. The whole footballing world would disappear up it's own arse and ultimately implode.

Haven't they ever heard of destructive growth in business? Probably not, and they certainly aren't thinking long term.

Aside from anything else it just shows what we're up against that English clubs make up half that list

I really hope something comes of this. HOLY SMOKE --

Get French Football News‏ @GFFN

Football Leaks headline: Nicolas Sarkozy told Emir of Qatar Tamim Al-Thani in a meeting in 2010 that if he bought PSG & launched a sports channel in France (BeIN Sports), that he would instruct Michel Platini to award Qatar the 2022 World Cup.

Football is financially corrupt shocker.

Whatever next, a secret dossier that exposes John Terry to be a complete ****?

Nothing will ever come of FFP because those that break the rules, own the ones that can punish by having them by the balls in terms of making revenue. If uefa ban PSG then they alienate the poster boy for both French and Brazilian football, and ditto for just about every other team on that list.

They can fuck off and have their fancy dan league. I want to be battling out a super Sunday with Burton as we look to keep pace with Watford at the top

Problem is that it doesn't matter one tiny bit what you want. You are totally and utterlly irrelevent as are all the rest of us. It's pretty clear from this that the clubs don't give one single damn about their local, match-going fans. As long as they can get 50-60k in a stadium, even with cheap tickets, freebies to kids etc if necessary (and even West Ham can manage that), they're happy. The money is coming from TV audiences at home and around the world. And from the absolutely pitiful viewing figures for lower-end PL games, even Leicester games when they were chasing the title, let alone lower leagues, it's clear that they don't want Everton vs Watford, they want Arsenal vs Real Madrid. We'd be deluded to think Tottenham don't know this, or that they'd stay loyally comitted to the domestic league: if this is all true and a second-tier league is set up under this with the chance of promotion you can bet your bottom dollar we'll be in it with weekend trips away to Zenit St. Petersburg, FC Basel or Valencia.

If the national associations weren't so concerned with making money and more interested in doing right by the fans they could kill this European Super League with ease by announcing that any player who participates in it will be ineligible to represent their country at the World Cup.

That'll be the final push for me to knock following football on the head, i can stop reading crap opinions on the internet and i can finally start to do things that i actually enjoy, whatever that is, puppetry or woodwork or something. In a way i hope it happens.

Not so easy - that almost certainly falls foul of competition laws imposed by our good pro-corporate buddies at the European Union.

Personally if this happens I think it'll be non-league for me: in fact I'd be very surprised if it didn't end up with fan-owned splinter clubs ala FC United.

If that were to happen, my money would be on a not-insignificant percentage of players plumping for the money and potential trophies of a Super League and taking the trade-off of being excluded from international football.

I don't even see the appeal of this, from a spectators point of view.

I love the beauty of the PL, it would honestly be a dark dark day for me if this were to happen.

Just out of interest why are Manchester City in that list? They've never won or come close to winning the CL. On the other hand if it is based on recent domestic title success why are Liverpool on that list? What is it that qualifies a club to be a founder and does that mean they will be never be replaced?

They make loadsamoney in international TV markets and commercial activities and are happy to sign up to this. That's it. Nowt to do with sporting merit.

Whether we'd be in it or not, it's a grim concept. Football devoid of meaning and context - other than making more money. CocaColanised football. Sure why not, more money for fewer teams. Great. Seems like Bayern Munich are the main instigators. You know, the rest of the Bundesliga would probably love to have Bayern fuck off, same with Ligue 1 and that plastic travesty PSG.
