it ain’t big and it ain’t clever and can turn the most charming of people into a bit of an arsehole and a bore
Nit judging I ain’t a hypocrite but shouldn’t be seen like that. Do it in the bogs or whatever
He probably don’t care but he should be embarrassed
Massive hero of mine best player I’ve ever seen but as a person he seems flawed again I ain’t in no position to judge. I dunno think these people get told yes too much needs someone to pull him up but dont think he has it or wants it

Maradona makes Messi look like Heskey...

..Especially when you bear in mind how much harder football was for Maradona with the pitches, equipment, balls and generally less favourable conditions they had then (medically, intensity of tackles etc.).

Yes we have better athletes now, making it harder for attackers, but I think that pales in comparison to what players like DM could do with little more than natural ability.

Best. Player. Ever.

Football god. I fondly remember him playing alongside Hoddle for us in Ossie's testimonial; football from a different planet.

That honour belongs to the One and Only Pele.

Depends on how you see things really. If it's all about goals then yes, it's Pele, but while Pele was the best goalscorer Maradona was the better player. I actually think there have been two or three players better than Pele, although obviously their numbers don't match his.

Watch some late 50s/early 60s Brazil - when Pele was on the same pitch as Garrincha it was usually the latter who stood out as the better of the two. Incredible skills.

However, if George Best had made the most of his talent I'm fairly certain his would be the only name in the discussion, but since he threw his career away before he even hit his prime we'll never know.

yeah yeah yeah. But could Pele OR Maradona do it at both ends of the pitch ? I think not.

Watching those videos, one of the things that makes him stand out is the way he rides tackles. Messi is seen as being pretty 'fair' in terms of not going down (compared with C. Ronaldo) but when you see this (at a time when legal challenges were a lot more robust) a lot of what makes him so good is getting past people and sticking it in the back of the net even after getting kicked.

I guess it's the clear confidence in his ability which adds to his greatness. It just seems such a shame to me that his legacy is tarnished by his abuse of narcotics. I don't know if he'd have been any better if he hadn't used cocaine, but the clear impact on his life and personality is such a shame and makes it very difficult for me to see him in the way his talent deserves.

Ronaldo (assuming you mean Christiano) isn't even the second best Ronaldo ever.
In terms of pure ability Ronaldinho is the best player to ever grace the game IMO. Just a shame he took his eye off the game, I think if he'd have been around in the Pele or Maradona era then he'd be uttered in the same breath.

Too close to call between him and real ronaldo. Both careers didn't live up to potential for different reasons. But when players are asked about the best players, those 2 come up tops. Some name Zidane but zz himself was amazed by real ronaldos ability.
